Bree invites Keith's parents to a Thanksgiving dinner and discovers some family secrets. Susan and Lynette disagree on how to treat baby Paige. Susan refuses to follow Lynette's technique and let her cry and fall asleep by herself, and insists on going against her will and refuses to let Paige cry. Renee reminds Tom about their past and hits on him. Beth tries to learn more about Paul's past misdeeds. The Solises host Grace's family to Thanksgiving dinner as well. After an altercation with the police, the Solises find out that Hector and Carmen (Carla Jiminez) are illegal Mexican immigrants and Gaby fears that they will have to be deported and that she'll be separated from Grace. However, Carmen announces to Gaby that Grace is American and at the end of the episode, Gaby insinuates that Grace might be able to stay and live with the Solises.
Lynette and Renee start a business in interior design, after a little persuasion from Renee. Renee suggests hiring Susan as Lynette's nanny. Lynette is reluctant, but eventually agrees. She ends up comforting Susan when she feels bad about not being as financially stable as her friends. Mike has left town after taking the job in Alaska, and Susan accepts Lynette's offer to be baby Paige's nanny, even though she originally thought she was being hired to work in Lynette and Renee's new business. The next day, Susan overhears a new client of Lynette and Renee's, and she suggests that she ask her daughter for her favorite characters to paint on her wall. The woman likes Susan's idea. Renee gets mad at Susan for her meddling, while Lynette wonders why her friend is acting strange. Susan eventually reveals that she feels the nanny job is beneath her, and is ashamed to be the poor person in her group of friends. Lynette comforts her, saying that money can't change the way she looks in their eyes.
Bree is rollerskating with Keith when she gets hot and dizzy out of nowhere and falls off her skates. She is examined by a medic who tells her that it is a hot flash and she is starting menopause. Bree is horrified. She goes to her OB/GYN, but there is a substitute working as her regular OB/GYN is out on maternity leave. She and the sub hit it off, and Bree reveals that she is in a relationship with a man 17 years her junior, and asks for ways to hide the symptoms. Later, Bree meets Keith's parents for dinner at a local restaurant; Keith's mother just happens to be the substitute OB/GYN. Throughout dinner, Keith's mom drops hints about Bree's visit to her until Bree finally admits to being menopausal. Ashamed, Bree leaves the restaurant. Keith finds her later, and tells her that he doesn't care about her being menopausal or having children with his DNA. They can always adopt. Bree sadly tells him that she does not want to have children again. Keith is upset, but asks Bree to forget the conversation for a while so that they can be happy. Bree agrees. Gaby fears that Bob might be trying to seduce Carlos after they become friends and Lee warns her that Bob has "flipped" straight men before. Gaby confronts Carlos with her worries when she finds out that he and Bob plan to go away for a weekend and plan to share a hotel room. Carlos thinks she's wrong, but agrees, nevertheless. Bob reveals to Gaby later that he is hurt that she thinks he would try to steal Carlos from her. She listens in guilt as he explains that all he does is work and come home to an empty house. He is lonely and wants some time to hang out with guys just for companionship and nothing more. Gaby says that Bob and Carlos can go out, but later revokes the statement as she says that Lee is who Bob should really go with, as they still love each other. Bob and Lee share their first on-screen kiss. Paul and Beth have sex finally, after Beth's initial reluctance. Afterwords, Beth begins to question Paul's motives for returning to Wisteria Lane when she finds out that he is letting his old cellmate move into his old house. He refuses to tell her why. The next day when Paul is out, Beth goes over to his old house and confronts his cellmate. She shows more of her disturbed and personality when she threatens to tell the police that he attempted to rape her if the guy does not comply with her wishes (to tell her what Paul's up to). Later, Beth confronts Paul about what his former cellmate told her (it is not revealed to the viewers at what the guy told Beth). Paul tries to defend himself, but finds there is no need, as Beth tells him as before that she supports her husband in all his endeavors. He calls her the "perfect wife", but it is proved she is not when it is revealed at the end that Beth's mother, to whom she is always whispering on the phone, is none other than Paul's equally demented and sworn enemy: the imprisoned Felicia Tilman.
Juanita is at Grace's house. She notices Gaby's necklace and asks Grace where she got it. Grace claims that it was a gift from her aunt, but Juanita is unconvinced and secretly takes it. When Gaby picks her up, Juanita tells her that Grace stole the necklace but she stole it back. Gaby admits that she gave Grace the jewelery as a present because she feels sorry for her as she is poor.
Later, Grace arrives at the Solis's house to celebrate Halloween. Gaby tells Grace that she has never made a costume before but Grace replies that she loves it. "I've never had such a pretty costume before," she says. "You're the best mom ever." Gaby smiles, and Juanita arrives in her puppy costume. "You're adorable," Gaby tells her, but suddenly Grace opens the door in her princess costume. Juanita tries to get Gaby's attention, but Gaby is preoccupied with Grace and styling her hair. Juanita looks on jealously. Later, Gaby takes Grace, Juanita and Celia trick-or-treating and greets Tom's mother, Allison. Allison accidentally suggests that Grace is Gaby's daughter, and Gaby is flustered as she hurriedly explains that Juanita is her child. Juanita is unimpressed and Gaby takes piles of candy for her, explaining that it is cheaper than therapy. Back at the house, Grace is thrilled with all the candy she got and hands Gaby a peppermint because she said she liked them. Gaby thanks her for being so thoughtful and leaves to give Celia a bath. Grace tugs at her tiara but can't get it out of her hair. Juanita picks up some scissors and offers to help. Gaby is in the bathroom with Celia when she hears a scream. She goes to find out what happened and discovers half of Grace's hair shorn off while Juanita holds a tiara and some hair. "She was having a problem," Juanita says. "I fixed it." When Grace has gone, Gaby shouts at Juanita that her mother was furious but Grace pretended that it was all her idea. She adds that if she hadn't, Grace wouldn't be able to play there anymore. "Who cares?" Juanita asks, adding that she has only known Grace for a month. Gaby tells her that she loves spending time with Grace but Juanita replies: "You do." She adds: "You like her better than me." Gaby insists that that is not true, but Juanita points out that Gaby gave Grace a necklace but won't let her touch the jewelery. "What's so special about Grace?" she yells. Gaby is at a loss for words, and Juanita leaves. Carlos, who has been watching, approaches Gaby and tells her that Juanita knows something is up. He adds that they should stay away from Grace. Gaby refuses, explaining that she will just be more careful. "We have to protect our daughter," Carlos tells her, but Gaby replies: "They're both our daughters." Susan tells Mike about her work for the Va Va Broom website. She tells him to yell if he wants to, but Mike replies that he should have taken the job on the oil rig in Alaska. He adds that if he had done a better job taking care of them she would not have had to resort to the website. Susan insists it is her fault, adding that she thought no one would ever know. She admits that Paul Young found out and is blackmailing her by forcing her to sell him their house. Mike is furious and picks up a hammer determined to confront Paul, but Susan begs him not to do anything because Paul wants to provoke a reaction from Mike. She climbs onto his back and claims that Paul did them a favor, saying: "I'm not lying now... look, we're closer than ever." Mike doesn't listen, but Susan admits that she has an idea to get Paul to back off. Susan arrives at Paul's house with a basket of muffins and explains that she wants to move past their row. She claims that he has been a really good tenant and says that she is lucky, but suddenly notices a thumbtack on the wall. She produces Paul's lease agreement and claims that he is in violation by using the tack, adding that she wants him to vacate the premises within 60 days. Paul points out that she is in no position to make demands, but Susan reveals that she told Mike everything. She adds that Mike was furious that Paul was trying to blackmail her and shows him the hammer. "I had to pry it out of his hand so you wouldn't need a paramedic to pry it out of your skull," she warns. She puts a muffin on the counter to demonstrate and smashes it with the hammer. "This is you if you tell anyone and Mike finds out," she threatens. She leaves, adding: "Oh, and enjoy those raisin muffins. I hope they're all raisins - my apartment has rats." Paul takes Beth on a date to Oakridge School, which is hosting a Halloween event. Paul asks Beth to go and get some pumpkin bread and approaches a parent. The woman asks Paul if he is sending his children there and he admits that he isn't because he has traditional family values. He explains that he heard something "troubling" about one of the teachers. When the woman asks what he knows, he asks: "Are you familiar with Mrs. Delfino?" Later, Susan is teaching her class when an assistant enters the room and tells her that the principal wants to see her. Later, she arrives home and admits to Mike that she got fired because someone found out about the website. She adds that it wasn't Paul who told the principal, but one of the parents. However, Mike still thinks that Paul had something to do with it. Mike asks what they're going to do, and decides to take the job in Alaska. Susan begs him not to for their son, M.J.'s, sake, but Mike replies: "How much thought did you give M.J. when you were dancing around in your underwear?" He adds that M.J. will probably find out about this now and announces that Susan can no longer make decisions about their family. He tells her to take M.J. trick-or-treating while he calls about the Alaska job. Beth and Paul arrive home from a date and Beth explains that she liked hearing from the other people at the school about Paul's childhood. "When you talk about the past, it changes how you look," she says. "You're not so intimidating." Paul leans in to kiss her, but Beth asks what he's doing. Paul tells her that he's not an "animal satisfying urges" and explains that he wants to connect with her. "I need a partner by my side," he says. "Someone I can trust. I think you can be that person. The question is, do you?" He kisses her but Beth slaps him. Angry, Paul tells Beth that he wants her to move out by the end of the week. Later, Beth is on the phone to her mother and explains that Paul wants her to leave. "I am trying to make it work," she says. "I swear I do everything he asks me." Beth suggests that she should come home, adding: "Oh yes, I know I made a commitment but I am so unhappy... Of course I want you to be proud of me. OK, I will. I'll try." Lee finds Susan, who is trick or treating with M.J.. He explains that Paul wanted to ask again if she has any interest in selling her house, explaining: "He said your circumstances recently changed." Susan realizes that Paul was the one who got her fired and asks Lee to take M.J. trick or treating. She takes M.J.'s club from his Halloween caveman costume and knocks on Paul's door. When he opens it, she storms in and explained that she tried to give him the benefit of the doubt when he moved here. "But guess what," she adds. "The benefit of the doubt is over." She uses the club to smash up the kitchen and adds: "You know what, I'm glad I didn't let Mike do this because I'm really enjoying it. Aren't you?" She stands over Paul, who is on the floor, but Beth arrives on the stairs with a gun and tells Susan to get away from him. Susan tells Beth that she doesn't know what he's done or the person that Paul really is. But Beth replies: "I don't care. He's my husband. Now get out of our house!" When Susan has left, Beth asks Paul if he is all right and kisses him. Mike finishes packing for Alaska and Susan admits that she doesn't want him to go for M.J. will become even more depressed then he already is without his father. Mike agrees but explains that he can earn enough money to get Paul out of their house and get their lives back. He adds that if he stays, he's afraid he will kill Paul. M.J. and Susan say goodbye to Mike. "The time comes when we all must find out what we're afraid of," Mary Alice says. "The world is a scary place. It's even more terrifying if we have to face it alone." Meanwhile, Lynette arrives back home and hands her mother-in-law, Allison, her handcream. Allison thanks her, but Lynette asks her where the baby is and Allison explains that she is still asleep. Lynette is annoyed because Allison promised to wake the baby at 3:00 PM and complains that Paige will be up all night. "You stop yelling at me," Allison snaps. Lynette insists that she isn't, but Allison shouts: "You're yelling at me, saying it's my fault, and it isn't! You're a liar!" That night, Lynette is trying to get Paige off to sleep when she notices Allison's handcream on the table. She takes it into the bathroom to put it away and notices that Allison already has ten jars of the product. She wakes up Tom and admits that she is worried about Allison. Tom suggests that she just forgets things because she is older but Lynette adds that she has moodswings as well. Tom defends Allison, but Lynette says: "I get it... she's your mom, you love her. You can look for excuses for every one of these things, but I think there's more going on than just being a little forgetful." She settles down to sleep while Tom looks concerned. The next morning, Tom asks Allison if she is alright and explains that she has seemed "scattered" lately. Allison replies that he has always been a worrywart and reminds him of the time he went to camp but wanted to come home because he was worried his family would be hurt by a hurricane. She goes up to get dressed and Tom tells Lynette that his mother is remembering things that he forgot about. Lynette replies that she has been doing research about senile dimentia in which a person's long-term memory remains more or less intact, their short-term memory escapes them. Lynette also found out about "sundowning", where senile people deteroriate later in the day and when their short-term memory goes, eventually their long-term memory will go as well. Tom continues to insist that his mother is not senile, adding that Lynette has been trying to get her out of the house since she arrived. Lynette denies that this is a tactic, adding that she's starting to get worried and isn't comfortable leaving her with the baby. "There's nothing wrong with my mother, OK?" Tom yells. "So just drop it." When the children on Wisteria Lane start trick-or-treating, Allison warns that they are about to run out of candy. Tom explains that he has lots left in the cupboard. However, later, Allison repeats again that they are running out of candy and decides to go to the store. Penny insists that there is more somewhere but Allison promises her that she will take care of it and leaves as Penny looks on, worried. Later, Tom is watching horror movies with his sons (the thumb-cutting scene from Two Thousand Maniacs!) when the doorbell rings. Tom shouts to Allison to answer it, but Penny explains that she went out to get more candy. Tom goes to find her, explaining to the children that it's just a little late for Allison to be out. He walks through the crowd of trick-or-treaters looking for her, but doesn't notice her sitting on the curb looking scared and confused. Meanwhile, Lynette is talking to Lee at Renee's party when she receives a call from Carlos and promises that she will be right there. At the Solis house, she finds Allison sitting on the porch. "Oh thank God," Allison says. "I was walking, I must have got turned around. I made it up to Claire Graham's place but the lights were out." Lynette gently tells her that there is no Claire Graham on the street and suggests that they go home. Tom arrives and watches as Allison snaps, yelling: "Let go of me! You're doing this to me, you're making me feel crazy. I said let go!" Allison slaps Lynette across the face, and immediately apologizes. She spots Tom, who says: "It's OK, mom. I'm here." The next morning, Tom announces that the car is loaded and ready to go and Allison replies sadly: "To the nursing home." Tom insists that she is not going to a nursing home, explaining that it is "assisted living", but Allison asks him: "When do I get to leave? When do I get to go home?" She adds that she knows lots of elderly people who have gone to these places and not come back. Tom explains that Allison can't live alone anymore and adds that if something bad happened he would never forgive himself. "The only bad thing happening here is what you're doing to me," Allison tells him. Tom admits that he doesn't know what else to do. "When you called me from that camp you were scared," Allison says. "You kept saying, 'I want to come home, mom'. And I said, 'Tommy, if you mean that, I'll come get you'. That's what you do." She gets up and Lynette comforts a tearful Tom. Meanwhile, Keith takes Bree back to his apartment and when he opens the door she is shocked at how clean and tidy it is. "I had this whole frozen smile ready," she admits. When Keith explains that he just switched his pot pourri, Bree tells him: "Take me right now on the table." They begin kissing but are interrupted when Keith's female roommate Mimi walks through the apartment. Bree is surprised that Keith has a roommate and says: "It looks like that frozen smile came in handy after all." The next morning, Bree wakes up in Keith's apartment and meets Mimi in the kitchen. She apologises and explains that Keith never told her that he had a female roommate. She adds: "He said you never slept together except those two times." Mimi squeals that they have never had sex and Bree admits that Keith told her that but she needed to see her reaction to know it was true. "Nicely done," Mimi replies. "You don't need to worry about other women. The guy never stops talking about you." Bree is pleased, and Mimi asks her to give Keith his mail. Bree agrees but as she flicks through the envelopes she notices one from the department of corrections. Later, Bree finds Renee and asks her if she ever thought Keith might be a "little crazy". She admits that she found out he is on probation for assault. Renee tells her that Keith was just standing up for his girlfriend at the time when a man started hitting on her. She explains that she found out from the barman. "It's nice to know chivalry isn't dead," Bree smiles. Renee tells her that if she wants to find out if Keith is violent, she should start a fight with him and see if he hits her. Later, Bree and Keith arrive at Renee's party. Bree, who is dressed as a cheerleader, is approached by a man dressed as a football player and they joke about their costumes. The football player asks if he gets a kiss for scoring the winning touchdown, but Bree explains that someone else is taking her to the prom. When he persists, Bree tells him that their skit is over and eventually calls over Keith. She explains that the man won't leave her alone and Keith makes him leave. Bree thanks him for being so gallant, but as she turns away and continues talking he walks over to the man again and begins shouting at him. Bree runs after him and begs Keith to stop. Eventually, Keith walks outside and Bree follows, asking what happened. "He pushed my buttons and I went off," Keith shouts. "Is it not obvious?" Bree asks him why he is yelling at her and Keith explains that he has been arrested for this before and knows he has a problem. He says that he knows she wants to break up with him but Bree denies it. "Nine years ago my son found me face down, drunk," she tells him. "He had to turn the sprinklers on to wake me up. Did you not know you're dating the biggest lush in Fairview?" She adds that they all have baggage and she can deal with his anger. "Do you think you can deal with a control freak with a drinking problem?" she asks. Keith kisses her. Renee arrives at Lynette's house to invite them to a party. Gaby explains that Grace is sleeping over but suggests that they could come over and show the adults Grace and Juanita's costume. She adds that Juanita is going as a puppy and will be "so cute". However, Renee insists that no children are allowed to come. Bree offers to attend if she can bring Keith, and Renee replies: "I guess one child will be OK."
The mysterious man from the previous episode, who had the poster revealing Susan's secret as a worker on the website "Va Va Va Broom", is Paul. It is all part of an elaborate plot to blackmail Susan into selling him her house. The mystery as to why Paul Young is buying up most of the houses on Wisteria Lane continues to deepen.
Meanwhile, Renee is happy that her marriage is over and that her settlement is lucrative. Renee and Gaby share secrets. Renee tells Gaby that she "renegotiated" the terms of her divorce settlement by sleeping with her ex-husband Doug's divorce lawyer and Gaby says that she had a nose job. Renee blabs about it to Bree and Lynette later after she and Gaby get into a small fight. Gaby, in revenge, tells Doug, who arrived in Fairview to reconcile with his wife, Renee's secret. After a huge fight between Renee and Gaby, they apologize to each other and Renee decides to follow through with the divorce. Bree is exhausted after many all-nighters of sex with Keith's unrestricted libido. Later, he confesses that he was only trying to impress her (because Bree seemed too conservative and sophisticated for him) after Bree reveals she can't keep up with him. They tell each other that they like each other the way they are. Tom asks his mother, Allison, as a nanny to take care of the baby. After a big argument, Lynette fires her mother-in-law, but Tom overrules her, telling her that she is going to stay. After Lynette and Allison's talk, Tom's mother shows symptoms of dementia to Penny, unknown to Lynette and Tom.
Carlos and Gaby meet the family who raised their biological daughter Grace. Their personalities and looks are astonishingly similar. Both families agree not to tell the girls about what happened and agree on making monthly family visits. We see that Grace is very well taught on how to behave, but Juanita is not. Grace falls in love with Gaby's Chanel purse, so Gaby wants to give her one, but Juanita's real mother, Carmen Sanchez, doesn't accept it. She tells Gaby that Grace is not spoiled and is a modest child. Gaby opens up to Carlos about her argument with Carmen, during which he tells Gaby that she better not drive their daughter's family away because they might take her and never come back. A few days later, when the Sanchez family is at the Solis home, Gaby gives Grace a necklace that she bought at the beginning of her modeling years. The mother and daughter agree to keep that as a secret.
Maxine tells Susan that her business is expanding throughout the whole USA and suggests that Susan should take a break for about a month so she wouldn't be over-exposed. Later that day, while driving, Susan sees that a billboard is being hung up with her on it. Furious, she rips it off and goes crying to Maxine. Maxine makes a phone call to her new business partners just to find out that Susan must pay them $9,000 for the billboards that they made if she doesn't want them to be placed everywhere. Susan is very worried, but Maxine comforts her with telling that Va-Va-Va-Broom also offers jobs that cross Susan's boundaries, meaning that they contain nudity and maybe pornography. Desperate for help, Susan accepts her offer. Later, a mysterious man, whose face isn't shown, is seen taking the ripped billboard out of the trash and leaving. Penny offers to take care of Paige after seeing that Lynette is very busy and needs help. Lynette takes advantage of Penny's help and one day she goes jogging while she leaves Paige to Penny even though Penny told her that she has a test that day and must hurry to catch the school bus. Later, Lynette arrives at home and finds no one in it, so she hurries to Penny's school where she is called to the principal. The principal tells her that Penny even took the baby monitor before she went to sleep and got up earlier to feed her baby sister, and as a result she is exhausted. Lynette talks to Penny and finds out that she loves it when Lynette spends more time with her, so she tells Tom to hire a nanny so she can be the mom she used to be. Renee ruins Bree's date with Keith by calling Danielle with her son Benjamin, Bree's grandson, to come visit Bree, just so Keith would find out that Bree is a grandmother. Anxious to take her revenge, she discovers from Lynette that Renee is terrified of little people after a circus incident in her childhood. While Renee is on her date with Keith in a fancy restaurant, Bree hires her friend from church, who is a dwarf, to get closer to Renee, and when he does, she gets hysterical. Bree is in the restaurant, and after hearing Renee's scream, she is satisfied. After another argument, Renee lets go of Keith and tells Bree that she can have him. To show her appreciation, Bree buys her a little gift. Paul Young buys his old house on Wisteria Lane, in which he used to live with Mary Alice Young, his ex-wife, and their adopted son, Zach Young. He also shows interest in buying Karen McCluskey's house, telling her that she is old and may die soon, so she'd better sell her house now. Karen is angry at him and tells Beth about it. Beth, who agreed with Paul that there would not be anymore secrets between them, asks Paul if he talked to any of the neighbors and his answer is negative. Confused, Beth wonders what Paul is doing.
After visiting the doctor, Tom is prescribed marijuana as a cure for his depression, since all of Lynette's attempts to make him cheerful don't work. She disposes his marijuana, and instead puts oregano in the bottle. To Lynette's surprise, Tom does not feel the difference and acts like he is "high". Later, after seeing Carlos unhappy, Tom offers him the drug he is prescribed, and Carlos tells him that it is oregano. Tom is furious at Lynette, but she convinces him that he doesn't need the drugs to feel happy again.
Bree, Susan and Lynette invite Paul's wife, Beth to their weekly poker game. Paul tells her to make up a story about what is going on between them. During the game, all of the housewives want to discover as much as possible about Paul, and Beth tells them that he is changed, but does not hide that they met each other during Paul was in prison. Beth is having doubts that they didn't tell her something about her husband, so she asks Karen, and she tells her that Paul is the number one suspect for the murder of Martha Huber. Later, Beth tells Paul about that, and he denies it. She tells him that no matter if he is innocent or not, she would still love him. Gabby and Carlos sign the documents that say that the two can not sue the hospital, and the hospital won't do any actions to find their biological daughter. Gabby, however, can't get the thought out of her head that her real daughter is out there. While shopping with Susan, Gabby looks at all the little girls in the mall, and panics. She talks to Bob, and they agree that Bob would hire a private detective to find her real daughter but doesn't tell him that Carlos would not support that idea. Later, after Bob has talked to the family that has Carlos and Gabby's daughter, Carlos finds out about it, and furiously threatens her with a divorce if something happens. Just as Bree is about to invite Keith for a dinner, his girlfriend shows up and Bree is devastated that he has a girlfriend. She accepts Renee's previous offer of a night out in a club. At the club they see Keith and Renee doesn't wait a minute - she goes to flirt with him even though Bree told her he is already taken. Seconds later the waiter tells Bree that he and his girlfriend broke up that afternoon. Wanting to get what she wants, Bree makes herself look sexy in the bathroom, just to find out that Keith is taking Renee home. Anxious to know what is going on in Renee's home, Bree rips off her sprinklers and calls Keith to repair them during which they agree on a date in few days. The next day, Renee is angry at Bree for taking over Keith and tells her that it's not over yet. Bree smiles and does not care about the competition. Susan gets better and better at her internet work, and she gets the bonus check that a girl named Stacy who lives in the same building, used to receive. Stacy accuses Susan of stealing one of her "moves", and as a revenge she steals one of Susan's "moves". Susan then rips off her vacuum cleaner and watches how Stacy is now all covered with the dust. The two of them get into a fight until Maxine breaks up the fight and tells Stacy to apologize to Susan or she will be fired. Stacy apologizes, and tells Susan that after 6 years of working for Maxine, she still can't move back home. Susan is worried after hearing what Stacy had to say, and cancels the dinner with Mike for their anniversary at a fancy restaurant saying that she wants to save the money and not spend it on unnecessary things.
The episode begins with Bree acknowledging her lust for her new handy-man, Keith. While admiring his backside as she is backing out of her driveway, she accidentally runs into Gaby’s daughter, Juanita, who is riding her bicycle. At the hospital, Gaby informs everyone that Juanita will be fine but pulls Bree and Andrew aside to point out the terrible coincidence that while Bree hit Juanita with her car, Andrew hit Gaby’s mother-in-law (also named Juanita) with his car a decade earlier. Bree is forgiven by Gaby, but Andrew tells his mother that he witnessed Bree admiring Keith. He tells Bree that he believes Keith is too young for someone her age. This resonates with Bree and she returns home. After becoming excited by a shirtless Keith, she promptly fires him and he angrily leaves. After talking with Karen McCluskey, Bree realizes that it isn’t unusual for her to have such an interest in Keith. She overcomes her concerns regarding the age difference and her recent divorce from Orson, and locates Keith in a local bar. She explains that she enjoys his company and that she actually could use someone like him in her life right now. He agrees to return to work on her house.
Susan has begun her new job that she recently obtained from her landlord, Maxine, where she cleans her home in raunchy lingerie on a webcam while being broadcasted to paying customers of Maxine’s website. Susan is very hesitant at first but soon becomes quite the expert thanks to some pointers and a pep-talk from Maxine. While “performing” on one of her webcasts, Mike returns home and nearly discovers Susan’s secret. Instead, he is turned on by Susan’s revealing lingerie and the two nearly make love on camera. Fortunately, Susan is able to log off without Mike noticing. Soon, Susan starts making more money than Mike and manages to make their truck payment before Mike has to ask for an extension. He continues to believe that Susan is making the extra cash by selling her craft-made jewelry, and brings her flowers to show his appreciation for all her effort. The guilt begins to overcome Susan, however, and she admits to Maxine that her conscious is getting to her. Tom returns home early from work after feeling ill, yet again. Lynette demands he visit the doctor because he has been feeling this way for several days. When Tom returns from the doctor the next day, he informs Lynette that he is suffering from Postpartum Depression, a condition that generally affects women and, although rare, even men. Lynette does not take this news seriously and is astonished that Tom is taking the diagnosis seriously. Meanwhile, Renee (who is still staying in the Scavo home) warns Lynette that she should take Tom’s concerns more seriously, but Lynette ignores this. Lynette is especially angered when she learns that Tom has been confiding in Renee, listening to his problems when Lynette will not. One evening, Lynette learns that the two have gone to dinner but left a message for her to join them if she wishes. Angry, Lynette meets the two at a restaurant just as they are discussing Lynette’s dismissive behavior towards Tom. Lynette pulls Renee aside and tells her that it is inappropriate to be so close to Tom and demands that their current friendship be toned down. That night, Lynette realizes she needs to be there for her husband more often and the two decide to simply talk to each other rather than make love, thus making progress in their marriage. Renee later apologizes to Lynette and is forgiven, and reveals that she has just bought Edie Britt’s former home on Wisteria Lane. Lynette is hesitant to the idea, but happy nonetheless. In private, Tom warns Renee that it may be a bad idea for her to be their neighbor because he is afraid Lynette may find out about “something that happened” between he and Renee years earlier. As Juanita recovers in the hospital after being accidentally hit by Bree’s car, a nurse needs Gaby to make a few clarifications regarding her daughter’s health background. It is then that Gaby discovers that her daughter’s blood type is not consistent with what it should be. Since Gaby and Carlos’s blood types cannot possibly produce what Juanita’s is. This leads Gaby into believing that Carlos must not be Juanita’s father. She asks Susan to recall a vacation the two had taken years earlier where Gaby had been harmlessly flirting with a French man, and Susan remembers that Gaby did not return to their hotel room until the following morning. This news makes Gaby believe that Juanita was conceived through had a drunken affair with the French man. Terrified of this realization, Gaby makes a desperate (and humorous) attempt to make Carlos believe she has “sexsomnia”, a “disorder” in which the sufferer has sex in their sleep. Carlos does not seem to take his wife seriously and dismisses the claim without asking any other questions. The next day, Carlos arrives at the hospital to check on Juanita. He encounters the same nurse who informed Gaby of their daughter’s blood type. Gaby arrives just as Carlos is learning about the inconsistencies of Juanita’s blood type. She panics and begins to tell Carlos that he isn’t Juanita’s father. Realizing he can no longer hide the truth, Carlos pulls Gaby aside and finally reveals to her that Juanita was accidentally switched at birth, devastating Gaby. Paul Young visits the hospital shortly after Juanita is admitted, much to the surprise of Bree, Andrew, Karen and Lynette. The four of them are put in an uncomfortable position when Paul insists they all pray for Juanita’s recovery. Later, Bree and Karen gossip back on Wisteria Lane with Bob and Lee. A nervous, clearly lost woman begins walking down the street in an angry state of confusion. The four of them approach her and offer their help. She informs them that she is looking for Paul Young, much to their surprise. Paul then emerges from his home and yells for the strange woman. He then introduces her to the others as his wife, Beth Young. Later, it is learned that Beth met Paul while he was still in prison for the murder of Felicia Tillman. She often wrote him letters, sometimes sexually explicit, professing her love for him. However, Beth never expected that Paul would be released. Apparently lost in fantasy, she married Paul while he was still incarcerated. Much to her dismay, Felicia Tillman was found to be alive and Paul was released. She appears extremely detached, timid, and uncomfortable with her new husband. An angry Paul begins growing impatient that Beth has yet to consummate their marriage. He warns her that his patience will only last for so long.
Plot
Felicia Tilman was pulled over for speeding and was arrested for having no identification, prompting Paul Young to be freed and able to return to Wisteria Lane. Paul's lawyer visits him as he gets ready to leave his cell. He hands over his settlement check and Paul admits that all he wants to do is go back home. When he returns to Wisteria Lane, Mrs. McCluskey is first to see him and starts frantically to inform her neighbors. Bree tells Gabrielle that Andrew hit Carlos's mother. She gets emotional, not because of what exactly she has been told, but because now she feels pressured to tell Carlos, and she knows that his anger will get out of control and he'll do something bad. She wishes Bree had never told her. When the housewives discover the news that Paul Young is back, they discuss him on the porch, and he comes out and offers to tell them how he has been released. Inside, he reveals his grudges(うらみ、怨恨) toward them because no one attended his trial or visited him in prison. Later, in an ironic moment, Paul goes to visit Felicia in jail. She states her sentence is two to five years, eighteen months with good behaviour. She tells Paul she wants to make sure he is either back behind bars or dead for what he did. Paul decides to let her know that these conversations are recorded. But after he puts down the receiver, he finally admits the crime to her by mouthing through the glass. Lynette has been neglecting housework for the baby, and her kin(家族、親族) are beginning to complain. They get a phone call from her old college buddy Renée Perry (Vanessa L. Williams) and she announces, without even asking, that she is coming to visit. When Renée arrives, having married to a high-paid baseball pro and living the high life, they fall into old habits of making sassy(生意気な) insults at each other, claiming it's part of their 'friendship'. Renée views Lynette's life as desirable, pathetic, and shocking, as this very different as it is not at all how she expected the Lynette that she knew to end up. Lynette herself has known this for years, and it hurts that someone else has finally vocalized it. Renée mentions that she hasn't booked a hotel yet so Parker suggests that she just stay in the house. Lynette doesn't want this, but Renée accepts happily. The Delfinos move into their new home, an apartment. Susan assures M.J., and herself, that this is only temporary. To help speed along the road to recovery, she has been making homemade jewelery, which is later revealed to be ugly and too big. Susan drops off the security deposit to the landlady and mentions that her family is experiencing financial troubles. She invites her in for tea. Inside, Maxine recounts(詳しく語る、物語る) how her late husband's illness drained them. But she overcame by being strong and starting her own business, which helps suffering women just like she and Susan start over. It becomes clear she isn't referring to the apartment complex, and she tells Susan that she would be perfect as an employee for this business. Susan is intrigued(興味をそそられて、好奇心), as she could definitely use any extra side-money anyway. She reveals her business -- a porn website in which female attendants of the building do chores in lingerie for the camera. Needless to say, Susan is apalled. The landlady reasons that it really isn't that bad, as there is no nudity and no sex. She also says the patrons of this site are overseas, so she wouldn't have to worry about anyone she knows finding out. Susan is amazed at the salary, but still storms out. Orson packs up his belongings from Bree's house with the help of his physical therapist. He is not malevolent(悪意の有る、憎しみをもった), but wanting the best for both Bree and himself. Bree is very sad and does not want this. After he leaves, she comforts herself by getting up from the couch to look over old family photos. She notices some peeling wallpaper, and it refuses to stick. She eventually gets frustrated and vents(発散する、ぶちまける) by tearing all the wallpaper in her house down. Later, she hires a young contractor, who will help her to reinvent her empty home, symbolic of reinventing her empty life. She is ready to be adventurous but her idea and his idea of that word are not the same. Orson is outside and she excuses herself. He hands over the division of assets and Bree learns that he is now going out with his physical therapist. Bree is flustered. Orson tells her sadly that they were unhappy for so long, and at this age they can't allow happiness to simply pass them by. Bree goes back inside in a daze(ぼうっとする、当惑する). In a suggestion, he says that Bree would look hot against a certain color, and says that Bree has options and can do whatever she wants. Bree looks into his face and mumbles an agreement. Susan is pitching her less-than-perfect homemade jewelery to the others at Lynette's house, and Lynette introduces Renée to them. The pair begin to exchange banter(冗談を言い合う、からかう) again in front of the other women but the conversation turns sour when Renée hints that Lynette has not lived up to her college award of 'Most Likely To Succeed'. Lynette discusses the incident in the bedroom with Tom later that evening, and wonders why she would come just to criticise her life. Tom encourages her to confront Renée and boot her out. Lynette presents Renée with a phone book and advises her to look up a hotel and a taxi. Renée opens up. Her husband was having an affair with his agent's assistant. She found out and confronted him, saying me or her. He gladly chose his mistress and left. Now Renée's already fragile life is falling apart. Lynette says she can stay as long as she likes. Mike tells Susan that he has been offered a temporary job on an oil rig(掘削装置) in Alaska and is considering taking it so that they can return to the house in Wisteria Lane more quickly. But Susan doesn't want him to because it is dangerous and just a wild idea. Mike says he doesn't want to either, but there are no good options in their situation. The next day, she visits Maxine's room and accepts the job, and begins posing for the camera soon, while no one else is home. It turns out that the Solis family is the one harboring(隠された) the switched baby, and she is Juanita. Carlos is quite furious, and when Jack, one of the hospital's lawyers assigned to this dreadful(恐ろしい、いやな) task, says that the hospital hasn't tracked them down, Carlos forbids him from telling Gaby anything. Jack insists that he has a legal obligation, which prompts Carlos to say he will deliver the bad news to her himself, but really doesn't want to because it would devastate her. Later, Carlos explains to Juanita her namesake, for she didn't get to even see her grandmother. Gaby watches them from the door. Then she tucks her in, and they go into a hypothetical conversation in which Gaby says her life would be ruined if something were to happen to Juanita. Carlos watches on from the door. Carlos shows up at the hospital giving Jack an ultimatum(最終提案、最終通告): either he ends the operation to fix the problem and pretends like this didn't happen, or Carlos will file a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the hospital, which he is sure he would win. Jack states that he doubts the process can be stopped now. Gaby informs Bree that she's definitely not going to tell Carlos. Bree suggests that he deserves to know but Gaby explains that he is so happy right now, with the marriage being the best it's ever been, the children growing up wonderfully, and a great job, and she couldn't ruin that, preferring to pretend like it didn't happen. Gabrielle and Carlos continue their lives, each keeping an important secret from the other. In the streets, Lee and Paul have a conversation. Paul wants to buy the house across the street, his old house. Lee comments on how weird this is, but Paul says he has a good plan. Felicia sticks up a newspaper cutout of Paul on a wall of her cell. Her roommate says he looks like a killer and it is a shame he was released. Felicia replies it's all for the best, as now he can receive the punishment he's entitled to. Then she tells her a secret, that Paul will be dead within six months, according to her. Her roommate asks she can make sure of that, with her being in jail, and Felicia contests that while Paul has no friends on Wisteria Lane, she does. wikipediaのココから!すごい詳しく載ってるね♪

Lovers of Self?
Numerous websites offer “Tips for How to Love Yourself”. A google search for “love yourself” produces more than a million hits. One site—written by a psychotherapist—gives such an extensive list of ways to “boost your self-love” that if you followed all the directions, you would be constantly talking to yourself. Writing yourself notes. Indulging your every whim and desire. Another site includes a quote from Iyanla Vanzant: “I am the one I have been looking for,” she said. One lady suggests putting this on your bathroom mirror so you can say it to yourself every day: “I look in the mirror and what do I see? a beautiful lady staring back at me. Oh wow! I thought, who could that be? (then smile and say), oh! It’s only me.” She also includes this warning: “Don’t become too narcissistic or people will shun you.” One has to wonder: how narcissistic is “too narcissistic”? So, what do you think? Is all this good and healthy? Are we supposed to “love ourselves”? To listen to the great spiritual leaders of our time (i.e., psychologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists) one would think so. In fact, many Christian psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists (who shall remain nameless) agree and tell us we should indeed “love ourselves”. To listen to them, you’d think Jesus Himself commanded it. Remember the time Jesus was asked, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” (Mark 12:28)? Of course you do. Do you remember that He answered with a three-fold answer: “Love God, love your neighbor and love yourself”? Of course you don’t. He never said that. When Jesus was asked, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” He gave a two-part answer: “Love God and love your neighbor.” Many teachers—some I respect very much—have tried to find three commandments in Jesus’ words. But “love yourself” just isn’t there. Jesus mentions only two commands: “The foremost…and the second.” The word “second” certainly limits the list Jesus gave us. Nowhere in the Bible are we instructed to love ourselves. But the Bible is not silent on the subject. Self-love is addressed in two ways in Scripture: Self-love is assumed This passage is a good example—Jesus assumes you love yourself. He told you to love your neighbor “as ourself.” As much as you love yourself. Another example where Scripture assumes we already love ourselves is Ephesians 5:28-30: “So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body.” Notice that Paul—under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit—did not write “…love their own wives as their own bodies, and if you don’t love yourselves, husbands, get busy and love yourselves!” Notice that Paul—under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit—did write, “…no one ever hated his own flesh…” Scripture assumes we love ourselves—and it is true. Even those who are self-destructive love themselves. They are willing to harm themselves to get someone to notice them. Some are even ready to take the drastic step of suicide in order to put themselves out of their own misery. What looks like self-hate—in reality—is self-love. Self-love is sinful The second thing the Bible teaches about self-love is that it is sinful. A negative thing. Usually, when you find “self” in front of another word in the Scriptures it is a bad thing. There are, of course, some exceptions. When the self is controlled and limited in some way, it is good. Self-control. Self-restraint. But usually, self + something = sinful. Things like self-willed, self-exaltation and self-indulgence are a few examples that come to mind. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 is an excellent example: “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self…” Is this a good thing as many would have us believe? No. “Lovers of self” is the first item in a list that will characterize people who live in “the last days.” The rest of the list tells the complete story: “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” Self-love here is clearly sinful. It is “holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power”. Self-love is a counterfeit virtue. “Lovers of self” is in contrast to “lovers of God”. That’s the real love we should be pursuing. And that’s the real issue—the real battle. Sinful mankind is constantly faced with the temptation to dethrone God and exalt self. If you love self, you are not loving God. If you love God—really love God—you cannot love self. “Avoid such men (and women) as these.” I don’t think it would be inaccurate to say that first and foremost, we must avoid being such men and women. What is a proper view of self? Please don’t misunderstand. The Scriptures do not teach self-hate either. Self-hate is satanic. It is just as much a lie as self-love. Satan is a thief and a liar. He wants us to be “self-destructive.” Self-hate is not Biblical either. The Scriptures teach us to have a proper self-worth. Not self-love. Not self-hate. Self-worth is an understanding that God has created us in His own image and He loves us. Paul wrote in Romans 12:3, “…I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment…” We should not think too highly of ourselves. Nor should we think too lowly of ourselves. We should think rightly about ourselves. Soberly. With sound judgment. On the one hand, we have been created in the image of God and God loved us so much that He sent His only Son—the Second Person of the Trinity—to pay a high cost to reconcile us with God. Does that make you feel pretty special? It should. But don’t forget the other hand. On the other hand, we are sinful and rebellious. We were created in the image of God, but we are not God. There is nothing in us that makes us worthy of God’s affection. Our worth is not found in ourselves, but in the fact that God created us and loves us. Dr. Jay Adams—pastor, professor, counselor and author—got it right when he wrote: “Christ declared: ‘He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake shall find it’ (Matthew 10:39), and ‘For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it’ (Matthew 16:25). Clearly the one who seeks his identity in himself or in his relationship to other men will never find that which he seeks. It may be found only by the abandonment of one’s own desires and a willingness to follow Christ. Identity is found in Him; in letting loose of all else for His sake. One finds a satisfying identity nowhere else. Thus, love of self is not a biblically legitimate end. One is satisfied with himself only when he is in the proper relationship with Christ, having a clear conscience before God and men” (The Christian Counselor’s Manual: The Practice of Nouthetic Counseling; Zondervan: 1973; p.147). One night when David was looking up at the stars, he whispered, “What is man that you take thought of him?” (Psalm 8:4). It didn’t make sense to David that God even thinks about us. It really doesn’t make sense that God loves sinful, rebellious, lowly mankind. But this is one of the great truths God Himself has revealed to us in His book. Our response should be the same one David had: Praise! “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:1,9).
” I am the one I have been looking for.” –Iyanla Vanzant
We spend so much of our time waiting to be loved, hoping love will find us, searching, yearning(あこがれ、切望する) for that special love. Feeling empty and lost without it. Wanting someone to give us love and fill us up. Unfortunately, that’s not usually how life works. You will draw to you exactly what you create in life, and what you believe you are worthy of. So loving yourself can create love in your life. When you expect love from an external source, and someone or something does not fulfill your void(欠けた、空虚な) and fantasy's, then you will feel worse than before. Steps1 Be honest with yourself about how valuable you believe you are. The way you see yourself and treat yourself is the very way others will see you and treat you. Do you see yourself as valuable and worthy of the gift of love? Do you treat yourself lovingly and as a valuable being? And most importantly, do you treat OTHERS with love? That's the first step to feeling better about yourself. It’s ok to be truthful with yourself, though it may not be pretty! Awareness is the first and more powerful step on the path to change! 2 Start Sharing This is one of the most important steps you need to take. This may be the reason you are suffering and cannot feel love in your life. If you are serious about yourself and don't want to lose yourself, start sharing today. Share with others everything you have. Everybody has something to share. Share your happiness, sadness, money or things you use, and most importantly your knowledge. By sharing slowly and surely, you will start feeling worth for yourself and you will start loving yourself. Initially, you may feel that other people are taking advantage of you, but after a month of practice, you will see a change in yourself. 3 FORGIVE yourself if you ever believe you aren't worthy of love. After all, there were probably things in your childhood or previous years that created that belief for you. It SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE; every being on this planet is worthy of love, after all, love is what we are here for, it’s what it’s all about. Say to yourself now; “I forgive myself for believing that I was not worthy of love.” Go look in a mirror and say it out loud to yourself, look yourself right in the eyes and say it like you mean it. 4 Post this affirmation up someplace where you will see it each and every day; "I have the courage to believe that I am worthy of love." Read it out loud, every day, at least once, ideally at least ten times each time you notice it. Sticky notes are fabulous for affirmations.5Take action and make those words real. Begin loving and valuing yourself. It is said that you cannot give what you do not have. So, if you are not able to love and accept yourself unconditionally, how in the world are you going to love and accept anyone else unconditionally? Much less accept that love in return from them?6Learn to let go. There are a lot of people out there that have had hard lives/bad beginnings or moments. A lot of people close up on themselves out of grief or fear and have a hard time opening back up. It is important to let go of all the pain that is still inside of you from that bad experience. This is often the hardest part of the journey, but once you've done it, you will really benefit from it.7Remember that love is not a feeling, it is a choice! Make the choice to love yourself and the feeling will come. After all, who deserves it more? The more loving you are to yourself, the more loving you will be able to be to everyone around you. Family and friends will especially benefit from this. Make a choice to come from a place of love for yourself and for everyone who is important in your life.8Think about what you need to fill that emptiness inside, that place that is longing for love. What specifically are you lacking? Find the answer and then give it to yourself. No one is more capable of loving you, and giving you exactly what you need than you are! When you learn how to fulfill yourself in that way, you stop searching for it outside of yourself and you suddenly begin attracting it to you. You change yourself from a sponge to a magnet! People see you radiating self love and they are drawn to you.9Keep a journal. Write about your experiences, good and bad. When you write down your good experiences allow yourself to feel those good feelings again. When you remember the bad experiences, allow yourself to feel pride. Pride because you faced a challenge in your life and you are here today to write about it, which must mean you are a survivor and a fighter. Tell yourself, "I know pain, but I have yet to be introduced to surrender." Keep on keeping on.10Get in Tune with Yourself. Music reminds us of who we really are.11Do 3 things a day, to change yourself into your dream girl If it is gaining or loosing weight, then take a step by dancing for 20 minutes. If you want to ace your midterms, study harder. If you need to become more organized and stop procrastinating then start cleaning and maintaining a place for every single item. Do what is on your to do list by scheduling yourself. Those are an example of 3 things to do in one day, to further a goal of someone becoming more fit, great career and has mental clarity from liberation of clutter! In the year 10,001 B.C., a caveman (Will) runs away from a mammoth before getting in a fight with Wolf (Ike Barinholtz), the main antagonist(競争相手、敵役). He then encounters a saber-toothed, gasoline-drinking Amy Winehouse (Nicole Parker), who informs him that the world will end on August 29, 2008 (the release date of the movie), revealing their fate laying in a crystal skull. The film flash-forwards to the present, where Will (Matt Lanter), the main protagonist(主人公), apparently dreamed the past sequence. He then finds out that his girlfriend, Amy (Vanessa Minnillo), is having an affair with Flavor Flav (Abe Spigner) and the two break up with Will not admitting his true feelings for her.
Later that day, Will has a "Sweet Sixteen" party at his house, despite the fact that he's 25. Among the guests are Juney (Crista Flanagan) and Will's best friend Calvin (Gary "G-Thang" Johnson), who attempts to curve a bullet around the room to stop Seth and McLover (Noah Harpster and Austin Scott) from stealing the alcohol, accidentally killing Dr. Phil (John Di Domenico), Anton Chigurh (Barinholtz), and the Beautiful Assassin (Carmen Electra) in the process. By then, Amy arrives with her new boyfriend, an underwear model (Nick Steele), before the musical number "Friends Forever" is performed with cameos by an off-key Jessica Simpson (Parker) and Justin Timberlake (Jonas Neal). However, the party comes to a halt when the lights go out as the room shakes and a bulletin on the radio claims that it is the end of the world. Will, Juney, Calvin and his girlfriend Lisa (Kim Kardashian) go outside during a meteor(流星、shooting star) shower and find that Hannah Montana (Flanagan) has been crushed by a meteor and, even when caught between life and death, is still promoting her merchandise until her wig falls off, revealing her as Miley Cyrus before she finally dies. While this occurred, a kid (Ty Wesley) wakes up Hancock (Walter Harris) and mouths at him to go save the world, only to be knocked away as Hancock tries to flee the city but hits his head on a streetlight and knocks himself out. Soon after, the city starts to freeze over, and the group retreats to a garage for shelter. They meet the Sex and the City girls, who claim to have first grabs and Juney beats a drag queen version of Carrie Bradshaw (Jason Boegh) for the garage. After discussing global warming, Calvin says that he is cold and suggests they take their clothes off. Only the girls take their clothes off, and the guys stare in awe until Juney's water broke. Later, Will has a dream where he is a Jumper and accidentally impales(くし刺し) himself on Prince Caspian's (Barinholtz) sword (Caspian identifies him as "the guy who ruined Star Wars".) After Will's dream ended and he was chided(小言を言う) for not even trying to commit to his relationship, the gang leaves the garage and Will gets a call from Amy, admitting his feelings for her before he decides to get to her as Lisa gets killed by a meteor. While the others comfort a distraught Calvin, the Enchanted Princess (Parker) climbs out of a manhole and gets hit by a taxi, with Calvin catching her as they immediately fall in love with each other. Juney guesses that she is a princess thrown out of her kingdom by an evil witch, the Princess explains that she's a "demented(頭のおかしい、気がくるった) homeless chick who lives in the sewers(下水管)" due to consuming "lots and lots and lots of mind-altering, enchanting drugs!" After getting into a dance off with the Princess's Princely pimp, the heroes flee when a tornado appears with Iron Man (Gerrard Fachinni), Hellboy (Barinholtz), and the Hulk (Roland Kickinger) attempting to fight the natural disaster and being knocked down by its projectile(発射物、ロケットのような) cows. When they find shelter, Calvin gets a call on his shoe phone from Lisa's mother, who is informed about Lisa's death and how Calvin has found someone hotter than Lisa. Afterward, they encounter rabid knockoffs of Alvin and the Chipmunks who start attacking the gang and eat Juney's flesh until she presumably dies. The Chipmunks then go after Will and Calvin until they trap them in a trash can, fatally suffocating them as they attempt to escape. On their way to the museum to save Amy, who called to tell Will she's trapped under a statue, they run into Batman (Ike Barinholtz), who informs them that they must get to the evacuation(非難、疎開) buses by 9 pm, it is now 5:30pm, and also mentions that there will be no chance of survival if they go to save Amy. Learning that it's closer to nine than he thought, Batman throws a rope, which accidentally lands on a car that drags him away. With time against them, the Princess kills Speed Racer (Jared Eddo) so they can hijack his Mach 5 and drive to the museum. Before departing, they hear someone giggling in the trunk and when they look inside, they find Michael Jackson (Christopher Johnson) cuddled up with Spritle and Chim-Chim. After Jackson closes the trunk, they get to the museum and they save Amy who reveals the Crystal Skull from Will's dream to be the only thing that can stop the end of the world. As Will and Amy make their way to the altar(祭壇、聖壇), Calvin and the Princess find that the museum doors are closed and all the artifacts have come alive, including Kung Fu Panda (Yoshio Iizuka), who fights Calvin. When Calvin makes out with the Princess after beating Kung Fu Panda, he sees that she is actually a transvestite(女装、男装する人) by removing "his" wig while Kung Fu Panda takes out a katana and kills Calvin and the Enchanted Princess. Meanwhile, Will and Amy run into Beowulf (Barinholtz), who fights Will in the nude. After Beowulf is defeated, Will and Amy meet Will's father (Tony Cox) and Will returns the Crystal Skull to its altar, averting(不幸、災難等を回避する) further destruction. The film ends with a wedding ceremony for Will and Amy being performed by The Guru Shitka (Di Domenico). Then all the characters come sing a song about dating each other, which sets off a chain ("Disaster Movie Date Song"), ending with Alvin and the Chipmunks being crushed by another cow.
Casting
On March 13, 2008, Kristin Dos Santos of E! confirmed that the series would be a spin-off with new characters and not a remake.[10] In order for the project to be ready for the network's "upfront" presentations to advertisers in May, casting began before the script was completed. The first actor to be cast was Dustin Milligan, followed by AnnaLynne McCord. Hilary Duff was rumored to have been offered the part of Annie Wilson, but she told reporters that it was "not true". The role was eventually given to Shenae Grimes, who says she was raised watching the original series. Rob Estes was the last actor to join the series; he was sought by The CW to play the part of Harry Wilson. Estes was a previous cast member of the first Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off, Melrose Place. Following rumors of cast members from Beverly Hills, 90210 appearing on the spin-off, The CW confirmed that Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth would be returning in recurring roles, along with Joe E. Tata, for a few episodes, as their original characters. Sachs was familiar with Garth, and talked to her about a possible role in the series. Garth agreed to star on the series without reading a script after brainstorming ideas with Sachs. The producers offered Garth a role as a series regular, but she opted to(~を選ぶ) sign on as a recurring character. Sachs met with Doherty over dinner, and told her about the 90210 spin-off. Over the next few weeks, they established Brenda's backstory and Doherty agreed to guest-star in several episodes. Sachs described Tata's casting as an accident; a friend told Sachs that he had seen Tata in a store, which led to the offer of a role in the series. Sachs said that Tata was ecstatic(有頂天になる) about the idea and agreed. After reading the script, Tori Spelling expressed interest returning, and the writers decided to give Donna her own fashion line. Spelling was scheduled to appear in the premiere, but due to personal reasons and the birth of her daughter, she opted to appear later in the season. On August 11, it was reported that Spelling had pulled out of the series after discovering that she was receiving less pay than Garth and Doherty. Spelling asked for her salary of $20,000 per episode to be increased to match their salaries—$40,000 to $50,000 per episode—but when denied she left the show altogether. Numerous guests were then cast, including Kellan Lutz and Meghan Markle on July 7. Jessica Lowndes portrays Adrianna Tate-Duncan, a theatre "goddess" who suffers a drug addiction, and was later upgraded to a starring role in Jessica Walters' spot. Other guest stars include Maeve Quinlan as Adrianna's mother Constance, Josh Henderson as Sean, a young man who claimed to be Harry's biological son with Tracy Clark, but was really a scam artist, Lauren London as cheerleader Christina, and Aimee Teegarden as Rhonda, a West Beverley student. Sinclair announced in March 2009 that the series' second season would rely less on 90210 alums like Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty to boost ratings. She felt that "the show tried to be a lot of things to a lot of people in its first season [...] I think the center lies with the generation of kids that are in high school now." It was also announced that Dustin Milligan would not be coming back for season two, while Matt Lanter would be joining the cast as a series regular. Casting soon began for new characters to be introduced in the second season. In June 2009, the series was reportedly looking for an actor to play the recurring role of Teddy, a tennis champ returning to West Beverly. Actor and model Trevor Donovan was later cast in the role. Rumer Willis and John Schneider were cast in a recurring roles, as West Beverly's first Lesbian student and Liam's plastic surgeon stepfather, respectively. Ann Gillespie returned in the second season for multiple episodes as Jackie, Silver and Kelly's mother. Her character was once again sober and hoped reconnect with her daughters after being diagnosed with cancer. Travis Van Winkle was cast as, Jamie, as "football/frat" student at California University for "several episodes". Gillian Zinser was cast as Ivy Sullivan, a "tomboy surfer chick" who catches the eye of both Dixon and Liam. Kelly Lynch was later cast as her mother Laurel Cooper, a former hippie who believes in "free love, the environment, the power of music, legalized marijuana and her daughter Ivy, whom she sees as her greatest triumph". EW's Michael Ausiello announced that former Dawson's Creek actor Hal Ozsan had been cast, in a recurring role, as a faculty adviser for school's paper. TV Guide confirmed that former Gilmore Girls actor Scott Patterson had been cast to play Jack Court, Liam's ex-con father who opens a tackle shop and would appear in multiple episodes. Ryan O'Neal was later cast to play Spence Montgomery, Teddy's dysfunctional father, in a multiple episode run that started in April 2010. It was announced that Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian will all appear in the season 3 premiere as themselves. However it was later revealed that just Kim and Khloe had filmed scenes. It has been announced that Blair Redford will play a recurring character named Oscar on Season 3 of the show. It has also been annouced Kyle Riabko will be on Season 3 of the show as whoever turns to be gay's love interest which is rumoured to be Teddy. Season 1 inter-title.Much like the original show, 90210 follows the move of a family (parents Debbie and Harry Wilson, their daughter Annie and adopted son Dixon). Harry is actually from Beverly Hills and comes back both to look after his mother Tabitha and to work as the principal at West Beverly Hills High School. All of them struggle to adjust to their new lives: Annie has a hard time balancing romances (starting with rich kid Ty) and friendships as well as popularity and identity; Dixon has issues with his adoption and African-American heritage; Harry and Debbie struggle with the revelation (暴露) that Harry has a son with Tracy Clark, his former high school sweetheart. Tracy Clark has a daughter of her own, Naomi Clark, who dates jock(運動選手) Ethan Ward, brief rival of Dixon, with whom she soon breaks up and who gets back with Annie with whom he had a fling years prior. Both girls alternate between enemies in a love triangle and almost sisters due to their parents' child. Their respective mothers find in a love triangle of their own after Tracy's marriage to Charles Clark implodes(破裂する、爆発) (which Naomi takes quite badly) and she appears to want Harry back. Naomi's fight with Annie forces her out of the crowd after she uses Annie's ex-boyfriend Jason as a weapon to get back at her for hiding her relationship with Ethan. She becomes friends with older girls and starts flirting with Ozzie, a rather alternative student and later becomes attracted to a bartender named Liam whom she soon finds out is actually underage and becomes a student at West Beverly High. Meanwhile Ethan and Annie's relationship hit the rocks as he begins to rethink his life after a car accident and gets more or less attracted to Rhonda, the girl he hit. Soon Naomi and Liam begin a fling(短期間の遊び), and once she becomes friends with Annie again, he begins to pursue the both of them. Naomi's best friend, fallen starlet Adrianna Tate-Duncan battles a drug addiction. This gets her into trouble when Harry decides to clean the school, thanks to the help of a cop, Kimberly McIntyre, under cover as a student. Kimberly begins a relationship with teacher/lacrosse coach Ryan Matthews, which gets him into trouble with the school. Guilt-ridden, Kimberly does her best to solve the case, giving Ryan his job back, although he takes a leave of absence to rethink his life, and Adrianna lands in rehab, after almost getting Naomi in legal troubles as she took the blame for the drugs. There she begins a relationship with Navid Shirazi, head of the school's paper and Dixon's best friend, who paid for her rehab. Although at first she only does it to "repay" him, they start to genuinely(誠実に、純粋に) care about each other. Adrianna later discovers she is pregnant as a result of her promiscuity(乱交、混乱) while she was addicted. After telling Navid of her pregnancy, he breaks up with her. It is later revealed that the father of Adrianna's child is Ty, although it is unclear when they slept together. She and Navid get back together when he realizes that even though she is a mess he can't get over her, and get engaged, although he alienates his family when he tells them that the child is not his and gets upset when Adrianna reveals her daughter is Ty's. Another featured character is Erin Silver, Kelly Taylor's half sister and Naomi's former best friend, until Silver's father's affair is revealed. She quickly befriends Annie and starts dating Dixon, who is somewhat taken aback by her not-so-90210 lifestyle, as she is a virgin who doesn't care about popularity. In a multi-episode arc that culminated(クライマックス、最高点) in a very special episode, it is revealed that Silver has bipolar disorder. Kelly Taylor is now a guidance counselor at West Beverly and has a son named Sammy. She briefly dates Ryan before leaving to work on her relationship with former boyfriend and father of Sammy, Dylan McKay. This briefly causes friction with Brenda Walsh as both struggle with their lingering(長引く、ぐずつく) feelings towards Dylan. When Kelly returns, she not only discovers Ryan's relationship with student/cop Kimberly but also that he slept with Brenda, re-creating the rift between the two friends. Following Brenda's discovery that she cannot have children, however, the women are drawn together in an accord(許す、調和) once again. Donna Martin, who has become a well-known fashion designer in Japan, is recently separated from David, and she decides to move back to Beverly Hills. At Naomi's and Jen's (her sister) party, Liam sleeps with Jen. He is mad that Naomi told Jen about his past: he wanted to keep it a secret. However, he did not know that Jen was Naomi's sister, and upon finding out is horrified. Naomi finds out about it but thinks that Annie was with Liam, not Jen. This culminates in a major fight between Annie and Naomi where Annie runs a way, gets in the car drunk, and accidentally runs over a man. Season 2 begins with the end of summer school for Dixon, Silver, and Naomi. Naomi unknowingly dates a married man in an attempt to get over Liam, who shows up at West Beverly on the first day of school. Silver and Dixon get back together, but break up soon after Silver receives a message from Ethan revealing the two shared a kiss on prom night. Silver later reveals she is relieved upon learning Ethan will stay in Montana, and still loves Dixon. Adrianna is desperate to become a normal teenager, giving acting up and, much to Navid's dismay, sex. Their relationship is put under further pressure with the arrival of Teddy, Adrianna's old boyfriend (who Adrianna lost her virginity to). Meanwhile, the emotionally distant and guilt-ridden Annie has cut herself from society as much as possible, contributing to a growing disconnect between her and her brother, who is angry at her for sending him to summer school. Annie has kept her hit-and-run under wraps but learns through a private report that the unidentified victim, who had been in a coma, has died. At a end-of-summer beach party, Annie drinks her worries away with a senior, Mark, who later takes nude pictures of her. Naomi sees the photos and sends them to everybody at school as an act of revenge, as she believes Annie slept with Liam. Dixon, sick of Annie's drama, becomes even more distant. Later on, Annie dates Jasper, which began as a guilt-ridden friendship but later turned into a relationship. Dixon meets a girl named Sasha to whom he lies about his real age. Navid and Adrianna's relationship continues to tremble(震える、ゆれる) when Adrianna continues to show appreciation to Teddy. In the meantime, Harry and Debbie face marital problems when Harry confides to Kelly about his family troubles. Naomi finds out that her SAT scores are not high enough to get into California University, so she decides to date the Dean of Admission's son, Richard. She later falls for Richard's room mate, Jamie. Sasha finally learns about Dixon's real age when Debbie accidentally shows Sasha, whom she did not know, a picture of her son Dixon who is only in high school. Silver accompanies Adrianna to an AA meeting where she sees her mother Jackie, who abused her over the years. Once Jackie apologizes, Silver insists on her mother leaving her alone. After a phone call from Adrianna, Silver learns that Jackie has breast cancer, which shocks both Kelly and Silver. Kelly forbids Silver from seeing their mother to try to relieve the pain, but Silver moves in with her mother to take care of her. Adrianna breaks-up with Navid to go into the arms of Teddy, but learns that Teddy does not want a relationship, which makes Adrianna feel sorry for the mistake she has made. Jen continues to manipulate (操る、たくみに扱う) both Naomi and Ryan by making Naomi lend her a large amount of money, and by persuading Ryan to believe Liam is hitting on her. Silver, being paired up with Teddy, learns that Teddy's mom died, which causes a friendship to blossom. Sasha then tells Dixon she is pregnant, at which Debbie and Harry think she is lying. Jasper convinces Annie to steal a car from the beach club to film his movie. Liam meets Ivy, a surfer whom he butt heads with. Later on they form a relationship. Navid and Gia launch an investigation, believing that Jasper is a drug dealer. Being upset about her break-up with Navid, Adrianna relapses on drugs. Liam has given up on Naomi and takes out Ivy to the Edison. After Dixon confesses to Debbie and Harry about Sasha's pregnancy, Debbie meets Sasha and she finds out that Sasha is not really pregnant, advising her to stay away from her son. Sasha lies to Dixon saying she had a miscarriage, at which Dixon feels guilty for not being there for her. Debbie, trying to comfort him, agrees with Sasha's lies. She reveals the truth about Sasha which causes Dixon to distance away from his family. Jackie and Teddy give Silver her half-birthday by recreating her previous half-birthdays Jackie couldn't attend because of alcohol issues. Navid sees Adrianna buying drugs from Jasper which causes him to confront them. Annie and Jasper confess their love for each other. Liam finally confides(信用する、打ち明ける) to Dixon, Teddy, and Ivy about the events on prom night as they try to figure out on a way to earn revenge on Jen. Their attempt to earn revenge on Jen works, which makes Jen lose everything she has including her sister and boyfriend Ryan. Teddy begins to pursue Silver more and they share a kiss on the rooftop of the school. Jasper pushes Navid down the steps because he finds out he is telling people that he is a drug dealer. Teddy asks Silver to the dance, but she says no. Navid suddenly remembers it was Jasper who pushed him down the stairs and is determind to let Annie know he is a drug dealer. Navid asks Adrianna to admit to Annie that she bought drugs from Jasper. After Dixon realizes that Jen is the one who slept with Liam and not Annie, he opts to help Annie. Naomi also feels bad for Annie when she learns the truth about prom night. At the dance, Teddy and Silver share a kiss. Silver storms off but later admits to Naomi that she felt something when they kissed. Just as Silver is about to tell Teddy that she wants to give it a shot, she sees him hugging a girl, not knowing it is Teddy's sister. Naomi, Navid, Dixon, and Silver reveal to Annie the truth about Jasper with help of Adrianna. Dixon reveals he still has feelings for Silver, but lies and notes he did not know who the girl was. He kisses Silver. Annie confronts Jasper about his lies and he reveals to her he knows she killed his uncle. After the mid-season break, the students come back from their vacations. Jasper continues to keep Annie close to him, while everyone questions how she can be with a guy like him. With Jen gone, Naomi and Liam are free to begin their relationship anew. They soon realize they have nothing in common, but Naomi is determined to make it work by pretending to be the kind of person she thinks Liam will want. Silver likes Teddy, and wants to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is over his playboy stage. Dixon convinces both of them that they are not into each other. Adrianna reaches out to fellow Alcoholics Anonymous member Gia (Rumer Willis) for help with staying sober. To make Gia's ex-girlfriend jealous, Adrianna kisses her. Adrianna and Gia become good friends, and when Gia reveals her feelings for Adrianna, they become a couple, but break up after Gia cheats on Adrianna with her ex-girlfriend. Silver and Teddy decide to be more serious about their relationship. Naomi admits to Liam that she has been pretending and that she needs to be true to herself, even if it means the relationship won't work. This is what Liam wants, and their relationship becomes more stable; however, when Naomi is forced to come clean over false rumors she spread claiming that she was sexually harassed by a teacher, Liam decides that he needs a break from her. During this time, Annie and Liam become closer and he consoles her after she overhears her mother, Debbie, confessing to her father, Harry, that she kissed her yoga instructor. His consolation causes Annie to believe that Liam is flirting with her, but realizing that this was not his intent, Annie instead advises Liam to stay together with Naomi. In the finale, Naomi is sexually assaulted by Mr. Cannon. He tells her she is the girl who cried wolf, and that no one would ever believe her. Mr. Matthews was outside the school at the time and saw them both, but was under the influence of alcohol.

シーズン1のみで打ち切りになったのねぇ^^;
ほんの2~3話しか見ていないけれど、今後時間ができたらドバ~ッとまとめて見ようみたいに考えていたから、ちょびさびしいなり。。。 List of episodes Eighteen episodes of Melrose Place were aired from September 8, 2009 to April 13, 1 "Pilot" Davis Guggenheim Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer September 8, 2009 (2009-09-08) 2.27[7] In an elegant Spanish-style apartment building located at 4616 Melrose Place, in the trendy Melrose neighborhood of Los Angeles, a diverse group of 20-somethings have formed a close-knit surrogate family. Sydney Andrews is the landlady, still beautiful at age 40, and a central figure in the lives of all her tenants, especially handsome and rebellious(反抗的な、反逆) David Breck. Sydney started an affair with David despite her turbulent history with his estranged father, Dr. Michael Mancini. Both father and son learned through experience that Sydney was not above using blackmail to control people. Another tenant, high-powered publicist Ella Simms, once considered Sydney her mentor, but their friendship was destroyed by betrayal, and Sydney threatened to evict(追い払う、立ち退かせる) Ella and ruin her career. Sydney also played a pivotal(中核の、きわめて重要な) role in the career of Auggie Kirkpatrick. After they met at an AA meeting(アルコール中毒防止ミーティング), she became Auggie's sponsor and encouraged his dream to become a chef. Now a successful sous chef at the trendy restaurant Coal, Auggie has been avoiding Sydney since she began drinking again. The other tenants include Lauren Yung, a medical student in desperate need of money to pay her student loans, and Jonah Miller, an aspiring filmmaker who has just proposed to his live-in girlfriend of five years, Riley Richmond, a first-grade teacher. The newest tenant, 21-year-old Oregon native Violet Foster, has just arrived in LA with her own secret connection to Sydney. When a bloody body is found floating in the courtyard pool, David is the leading suspect. However, as the police are soon to discover, almost everyone living at Melrose Place had a reason to want the deceased out of the way. 2 "Nightingale" Greg Beeman Liz Tigelaar September 15, 2009 (2009-09-15) 1.81[8] Still freaked out by the recent murder, the Melrose Place tenants try to resume(再開する、回復する) some sense of a normal life. Ella learns from her new boss, Caleb that her job could be in jeopardy(有罪になるほどの危険、危険性) due to a recent merger unless she brings in a huge client. Ella then forces David to take her to a Brentwood party, where she hopes to land a big actor client, Jasper. Still in desperate need of tuition money, Lauren agrees to go out on another date in exchange for money, but inadvertently(不注意な、うっかりした) winds up (結末、最後に)at the same party as David and Ella. Detective Rodriguez questions Auggie, who flashes back to when he first met Sydney in AA. Riley and Jonah view surveillance video of Violet acting oddly and begin to think she’s hiding something. 3 "Grand" Allan Arkush Caroline Dries September 22, 2009 (2009-09-22) 1.45[9] Jonah is furious when he learns that Riley hasn’t told her family or friends that she and Jonah are engaged. Upset over their fight, Riley turns to Auggie for comfort. Caleb reams Ella after her director bails on a job, so she recruits Jonah to fill in on a Boomkat music video at the last minute. However, the lead singer, Taryn, might be more than Jonah can handle, putting Ella’s job on the line. Meanwhile, David accuses Michael of murdering Sydney, Lauren applies to be on Michael’s team at the hospital, and Violet continues to make her move on Auggie. 4 "Vine" Fred Toye Daniel Thomsen Dries September 29, 2009 (2009-09-29) 1.45[10] Jane Andrews, Sydney’s sister, comes to Melrose Place and announces that she inherited the building from Sydney. Jane threatens to show incriminating(訴える、巻き込む) e-mails Ella sent to Sydney to the police unless Ella allows her to dress one of her up-and-coming clients for a movie premiere in a Jane Andrews original design. Desperate, Ella turns to David for help. Detective Rodriguez shows up at Violet’s apartment asking questions about her connection to Sydney, but she flees though the window. Lauren meets a John at the hotel bar after being stood up by Toby and decides to take her new side job to the next level. However, upon leaving the hotel, Lauren is stopped by Wendi, a madam who has a deal with the hotel, who threatens Lauren if she ever sees her in there again. 5 "Canon" Norman Buckley Chris Fife October 6, 2009 (2009-10-06) 1.44[11] As a result of Jane’s tip, the police bring Ella in for questioning about Sydney’s murder. Ella naturally downplays(控えめに言う、軽く扱う) the tension between her and Sydney prior to the murder. Meanwhile, Lauren is torn between going on a shopping date with Riley for her wedding and impressing her new boss Wendi who just set her up on a "date." A stunned Jonah is accused of stealing a diamond necklace from a mansion he videotaped for a realtor, but becomes even more upset after Ella mentions a similar necklace that she saw in David’s apartment. Elsewhere, Violet maliciously(意地の悪い、故意の) sabotages(妨害、破壊) another employee at Coal so she can get closer to Auggie. 6 "Shoreline" Roxann Dawson Alex McNally October 13, 2009 (2009-10-13) 1.38[12] Anton V, a famous fashion designer, meets Riley and decides she must be the face of his new denim jean campaign, much to his publicist Ella’s horror. Meanwhile, Wendi sends Lauren on a job on a yacht, but Lauren panics when she sees David board the boat to meet with his boss' friend to ask for more robbery jobs. Also, Violet feigns (偽造する、でっち上げる)illness to orchestrate a meeting with Michael at the hospital as part of her plan to exact revenge for the way he treated Sydney. 7 "Windsor" Patrick Norris Jonathan Caren October 20, 2009 (2009-10-20) 1.50[13] Ella and Riley arrive at the Anton V photo shoot and meet the photographer ─ former Melrose Place resident, Jo Reynolds. Meanwhile, Jonah meets with a producer’s development exec, Kendra, who invites him to have drinks later that night to discuss his film. Violet makes another play for Auggie’s attention, and Lauren finds out about David’s criminal secret of robbing peoples houses for expensive artwork. 8 "Gower" David Barrett Caprice Crane November 3, 2009 (2009-11-03) 1.48[14] Riley helps Jonah film a wedding, but the two get into a big fight in the middle of the ceremony. Putting her relationship with Jonah first, Riley breaks off her friendship with Auggie, who doesn’t take the news very well. Meanwhile, Ella discovers Lauren’s expensive new clothing and lingerie plus a large envelope of cash and confronts her roommate about the late nights she’s been working. As with her wout, Lauren lies to Ella about her secret work. Also, David fears he may be responsible for Sydney’s death. 9 "Ocean" Liz Friedlander David Babcock November 10, 2009 (2009-11-10) 1.28[15] After learning Auggie’s blood was on Sydney’s murder weapon, the police search his apartment and demand the other residents tell them where he went after he was fired from Coal. Riley is conflicted about whether to help the police, but Jonah pushes her to make the call as she knows where Auggie is staying. Meanwhile, a work incident causes Jonah to pretend he’s engaged to Ella who really gets into the role playing. David arranges a secret play date with his little brother, Noah, but after the little boy hurts himself, Lauren must come to the rescue and risk the wrath of Dr. Michael Mancini. 10 "Cahuenga" Michael Fields Caroline Dries November 17, 2009 (2009-11-17) 1.57[16] Ella and Caleb are stunned when agency owner Amanda Woodward walks into WPK and immediately fires half the staff, including Caleb. Amanda makes it clear to Ella that the Anton V launch party with Riley better go off without a hitch or Ella can vacate her office too. Meanwhile, Auggie finally succumbs(負ける、屈服する) to Violet’s flirtatious(うわついた、軽薄な) ways and David asks Lauren out on a date. 11 "June" David Paymer Dan Thomsen December 1, 2009 (2009-12-01) 1.41[17] Amanda moves into Sydney’s penthouse while her Bel Air mansion is being built and takes an interest in David. Also, an incarcerated(監禁する、閉じ込める) Michael gives David information about Sydney’s killer and Amanda bonds with Violet over Sydney, but of course Amanda has an ulterior(隠された、秘めた) motive in getting to know Violet. The identity of Sydney's killer is finally revealed. 13 "Oriole" Greg Beeman Alex McNally March 9, 2010 (2010-03-09)[19] 1.19[20] Amanda puts Ella in charge of a lavish party at her house to celebrate the arrival of her billionaire boyfriend Ben Brinkley (guest star Billy Campbell). Violet asks Auggie to leave town with her to start over when she finds him drinking again. Elsewhere, Lauren struggles to recover from her near-fatal roofie(睡眠薬、鎮静薬) overdose while David, under false pretenses(虚偽、いんちき), confronts the john who drugged Lauren. 14 "Stoner Canyon" Seith Mann Teleplay: Caroline Dries Story: Caprice Crane March 16, 2010 (2010-03-16) 1.16[21] The sexy and catty Drew Pragin moves into Auggie’s old apartment and immediately clashes with Lauren over his love to loud rock music. She becomes even more upset when he shows up at the hospital as the newest resident and is just as ambitious and crafty(悪賢い、ずるい) as she. Meanwhile, Riley asks Ben to land her an elementary school teaching job, which infuriates (激怒させる)the jealous Amanda. David receives life-changing news from an unexpected source, while Michael wallows(~にふける、転げまわる) in self-pity over learning about his late wife's involvement with Sydney's murder. Also, Ella makes an unrealistic demand of Jonah that backfires by continuing to pretend that he and Riley are still together to an actor interested in playing Jonah's part in his upcoming biographical movie. Lauren covers for Michael's mistake at the hospital, and he responds by paying off her student loan. But when Lauren decides to quit her call-girl profession after one last job, she finds her latest client is Michael Mancini. 15 "Mulholland" J. Miller Tobin David Babcock March 23, 2010 (2010-03-23) 0.97[22] Ella is a little overwhelmed by Jonah's constant attention and during an unusual social gathering he brings her to, she decides couple-hood might not be for her. Meanwhile, Lauren succumbs to the merciless Dr. Mancini's threats to break up with David. David decides to buy the restaurant Coal, but the price turns out to be a little higher than he thought. So, David asks Amir to set him up for another robbery job to get the money needed, except that David gets caught by Morgan, the wild-child bad girl of the home's owner whom demands sexual favors in exchange for her silence. Drew begins to moonlight in a rock band, and Amanda catches Ben and Riley in a compromising position as she continues searching for the stolen painting. 16 "Santa Fe" Greg Beeman Dan Thomsen & Alex McNally March 30, 2010 1.06[23] Ella discovers someone is embezzling(横領する、着服する) from WPK and framing her for it. Panicked that she could go to jail, Ella investigates and starts with Jo Reynolds, who realizes Amanda is up to her old tricks again. Meanwhile, Jonah decides to throw a party in the courtyard to celebrate his new-found success. Jane shows up to confront Amanda for not firing Ella and runs into Michael. Lauren is shocked after Michael tells her he'll reveal her secret if she doesn't sleep with him, so she makes a harsh decision: Lauren reveals her secret to her friends and David is angry. Elsewhere, Riley and Drew share a sweet date during an outing(遠足、ピクニック) to east L.A. 17 "Sepulveda" Norman Buckley Caroline Dries April 6, 2010 1.05[24] David’s new role as a restaurant owner is put to the test after he loses some of his staff on the day an important food critic has come to review Coal. In an effort to get David to forgive her for lying to him about her secret call-girl profession, Lauren pitches in as a waitress and hostess and helps him out of his jam. Meanwhile, Ella wants to hack into the WPK files to erase the fake evidence against her for embezzlement, but Jonah strongly disagrees with her tactics, so she looks to David for help. With Drew’s help, Riley throws a fundraiser for her education foundation, but when Drew tries to increase the donations by auctioning off a date with Riley, things go awry(ななめに、それて) after Drew and a jealous Jonah get into a bidding war. Lauren stops Dr. Mancini from another M-valve surgery by announcing his secret in front of his surgical team. Lauren and David reconcile, but a jealous Morgan finds out and seeks revenge by having her equally evil father blackmail David into performing robberies for him and also forces David not to tell Lauren about their secret agreement or she will be physically harmed. Jonah asks Riley to reconcile after they attend an NYU reunion program, but she denies. Amanda is haunted by Sydney's illusion. Ella causes Amanda to be taken out of WPK (for selling the stolen painting) while the board appoints Ella as the new boss.

I’ve been married for seven and a half years. Not a record by any means, but not bad, either. Most marriages never get this far. I’d like to say I’m an uncharacteristically(特徴のない) awesome husband, impervious(鈍感な、影響されない) to boredom(退屈、ものぐさ), endlessly romantic and able to discuss feelings without the faintest(ぼんやりとした、はっきりしない) wisp(一握り、一片) of frustration or embarrassment.
My wife might read this, though, so I’ll be honest: I owe my good marriage to a few skills I’ve learned over the years. They’re not all easy, but you can start to hone(磨く、研ぐ) them while you’re dating and make the transition to marriage much easier. Be willing to forfeit(失う、没収される): the win-win strategy Disagreements are inevitable(逃げられない、必然的) — as unavoidable as Tuesdays or the common cold. They don’t have to be acrimonious(厳しい、しんらつな), though. And I’ve learned that in marriage the choice is often to win or to be happy. Being harsh and critical in an argument is only going to hurt feelings and alienate(遠ざける) your partner. That’s fine if you want to rule the roost(支配する、牛耳る), but if you want to love and be loved, you’ve got to care for your partner’s feelings, especially when you’re fighting. “When there’s a lot of goodwill, it’s amazing what you can say and still feel good about each other,” says Catherine Hastings, Ph.D., a licensed marriage and family therapist in Lancaster, PA. Hastings sees couples become polarized(対立させる、分裂させる) in their disagreements, with neither person willing to yield. The problem, she says, “is the idea that there has to be right and wrong in an argument. And there really doesn’t.” Get to the point, nicely I can be a little sensitive sometimes, and not in the sweet and caring way. Usually in the don’t-talk-to-me-about-my-shortcomings(欠点、短所) way. Lots of couples struggle to discuss the big issues that can rend a marriage in two. Who wants to talk about money management, family relationships and child rearing(育てる) (to name just a few) while you’re falling in love? These don’t come up easily when you’re sipping coffee and eating molten chocolate cake. “People are not direct enough,” says Jane Barton, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in Knoxville, TN. “Indirect communication can be really damaging.” She says that couples need to find ways to discuss the touchy subjects before they get married instead of hoping that marriage will fix any conflicts. It won’t. You may find yourself legally and emotionally bound to someone with a wicked online gambling habit or who thinks children respond best to pain. Take money habits, for instance. “With the economy the way it is and things in the news, it would be an easy thing to bring up on a date,” she says. You can also learn a lot by watching your partner. “Is she shopping at Barneys and really shouldn’t be?” The point is not to criticize your partner and attempt to rein(拘束、抑制) in his or her habits. You want to know if his or her decisions are in line with your values. If you’re honest with yourself about your needs, you’ll know if conflicts are on the horizon. “Don’t take on the task of teaching a person or being anyone’s personal therapist,” says Barton. “Identify what you feel and share it.” Recognize that there is an “I” in marriage My wife and I are a team, talking, sharing and negotiating most decisions together. We’re individuals, too, though, and we don’t lose sight of that. We encourage each other’s goals and ambitions because we don’t feel threatened by them. “Healthy relationships have room for that — his interests, her interests,” says Hastings. After all, she points out, “if you’re not able to address your own needs, no one else is going to do it for you.” Be a copycat Finding that mix of individuality and teamwork isn’t necessarily easy, but it’s essential. We simultaneously let each other be who we are while being influenced by each other. I had to learn to argue kindly, for instance, giving up the notion of the win. My wife somehow already knew that when we met. John Gottman, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who has studied relationships for more than 30 years, written several leading books about marriage and is the executive director of the Relationship Research Institute in Seattle, WA. According to Gottman, one of the key components of a successful marriage is that the husband allows the wife to influence him. While women in general tend to be influenced by men without much emotional difficulty, men are often resistant. A man who allows a woman’s ideas and attitudes to impact his own is creating an equal exchange within the marriage. And, as Hastings points out, you should learn to appreciate the difference. Each of you has strengths and weaknesses. Learning to let the strengths come through, no matter whose they are, makes for a better team. Be positive — it’s not just a blood type One of my wife’s greatest strengths is a generally positive outlook. Allowing her to shape the spin on a situation isn’t always easy, with my undeniable knowledge that the world is ending. But slowly, over the course of our marriage, I’ve become willing to see through her eyes. “People need to learn early on,” says Barton, “that there are always going to be problems. There’s always going to be stress, somebody gets sick or somebody dies, and that’s part of life.” Successful couples, she says, dwell on the good times and not on the bad. Derek and Richard
The Chief talks about his group of residents with an AA meeting, where he also announces that he's 45 days sober. But that doesn't mean he gets his job back. Derek tells him it'll be a while before the board is willing to consider reinstatement, and he's been authorized to offer him a general surgery attending position. The Chief refuses, but ends up participating in lecture day, in which he, Bailey, and Callie share stories about some of their most significant cases. Richard and Ellis The Chief's story as part of said lecture series is very interesting, as it gives us a glimpse into what Ellis Grey was like when she was younger. It's 1982, and Richard's the only African-American resident in the program and Ellis is the only woman. They both take their share of abuse. Ellis and Richard work on a patient with mysterious symptoms that the suspect is GRID (Gay Related Immune Deficiency, an early name for AIDS). The patient throws a fit and threatens to sue for slander, and their attending has no interest in trying to save a lost cause. The point of the Chief's story, in addition to showing us how he and Ellis fell in love, is perseverance and fulfilling the oath to always do right by your patient and fellow clinicians. The patient ended up back in the hospital with complications from Kaposi's Sarcoma, and even though they had no idea what caused his disease or how it spread, they operated. They were there with him when he drew his last breath after suffering complications from pneumonia. Richard and Ellis clearly struggled with their affair morally, as all she wanted was for them to leave their marriages and be together. We also got to witness Richard's transformation from a straight arrow to someone whose road to alcoholism was paved early. No matter how much you think you can keep from losing your way, you can. As he retakes the Physician's Oath from the stage, and it's more inspiring and effective than any kind of apology he could ever have offered - and the whole room lights up. Bailey We're back to her intern year, 2003, at Seattle Grace, when she was meek and quiet, with long braids, pink glasses frames and a resident who was pretty much downright evil. Bailey proves that she's a born (and magnificent) teacher in recounting her case, supplementing her storytelling with chocolates thrown to those who correctly answer questions. Bailey's patient was a young woman with chronic pain who had been through many surgeries, including having her ovaries removed, yet nothing worked. She diagnosed it as an appendicitis and got to operate with the Chief monitoring - and was wrong. "Surgery is a shark tank," the Chief tells her. And she needs to make sure she's a shark too, with teeth - not a minnow. The patient came back again, and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong. The resident keeps stealing her ideas about what could be wrong and taking credit. Bailey frets to Joe about being a minnow in the shark tank. The next time the patient comes back, Baile cancels her surgery, incurring the wrath of her resident but diagnosing correctly and saving the patient one more surgery. The patient's history is the most important part of diagnosis. She goes off on her superior and the Miranda (not Mandy) Bailey that we know and love is born. Callie After an awkward beginning, Arizona and Alex push her to tell the story of Sunder, a graduate student whose legs had been twisted and his lungs damaged by polio as a kid. The case is supposed to have come up in Callie's third year of residency, and Alex, during his intern year, assists her. Callie does a remarkable job during the first surgery, but is forced to end it after eight hours because of the patient's weakened lungs. Yet he's willing to move forward, and they end up doing a series of surgeries that are incredibly grueling for the poor patient. But he ends up walking. Amusingly. Callie mistook Alex for George, having heard about their exploits with heart surgery in the elevator, and he doesn't correct her - which becomes a problem when the patient crashes in surgery and she needs him to work on his heart. They celebrate their patient's success by hitting the sack in Callie's makeshift living space in the hospital basement. 'Member that?
The roof of a fancy restaurant caves in, causing huge casualties.
A and her husband both suffer rough injuries. He's having a tough time of it in surgery, she's faring better, and in the next bed is Emil, the head waiter at the restaurant who's secretly been in love with her for 15 years. He slipped Alex $50 to share the room with her. When he thinks she's asleep, he tells Alex and Meredith about how he's known her for years, watched her with her husband, and loved her from afar. He knows they're unhappy because their conversation has dwindled. He can see she's scared that her husband will die and she'll be alone, but she'll never have to be alone if she doesn't want to be. She's awake and she's heard everything he said. Meredith and Alex take bets on whether they'll tell another they love each other, as Alex, Meredith and Cristina snark about marriage while eating the chocolates Alex took from a guy in a coma. Unfortunately, the wife has complications, then Emil has to go to surgery with a brain bleed as her husband runs into some hairy complications on Bailey's surgical table. In the end, she survives and her husband survives, but Emil does not. She explains to Meredith that she chose her husband over Emil and made a choice, and she continues to do so every day in her happy marriage, she's still heartbroken. A dishwasher's arm was also amputated in the wreck. He desperately wants them to save it, and makes the case to the newly blonde Lexie and Avery. Lexie's gone "Trauma Room Barbie," as Avery puts it, in an effort to move on after the breakup with Mark, and he bucks her up and basically pushes her into becoming more assertive so she'll be treated differently. He does this with a speech about how tough he's had it, being so good looking that his family never expected anything from him. Lexie talks Mark and Owen into reattaching the guy's arm even though both the arm and the amputation site were damaged and contaminated and they keep the blood supply flowing by attaching it temporarily to his torso. But Lexie talks him down from feeling like a freak, and then goes and sleeps with Alex again. Bailey comes into the scene trailed by Callie and Arizona, who are all about Valentine's Day and their gifts for one another. They're mostly forgivable, though, until they see Bailey get all flustered with the cute anesthesiologist when he asks her out to dinner. It continues when Arizona dives headlong into not at all subtle hinting about them dating while they're all in surgery, and finally Bailey confesses to him that she goes stupid around him because she likes him. And that she'd be cool with going to dinner. Mark's all excited about being a granddad, and buys a crib. Then Sloan turns up, interested only in getting official proof that the baby is healthy so she can move forward with giving the baby up for adoption. Callie forces her hand, and she confesses her plans to Mark, saying that she's not ready to be a mother. He offers to adopt the baby, and Callie pledges her help in raising him. So Sloan agrees to at least discuss the idea and work it out. But Callie catches her sneaking out of Mark's apartment, and she admits that she only wanted money and a place to stay for a while. She didn't expect Mark to start caring. She wants the baby to be someone else's, she says - her father got a clean break, she feels she deserves the same chance. Callie sends her off with some stern warnings about taking care of herself and a wad of cash, and then has to break the news to Mark about what happened. Teddy's trying her hardest, but Owen won't even look at her - and what breaks her heart is that he's her best friend and she misses him. She misses her friend and that - along with the job and the amazing student - is more important. She'll deal with the rest. She's going to be fine, and they're going to be friends, Teddy tells Owen. We'll see. Derek's learning that being the chief of surgery is a lot more than being in the OR. It's also a lot of administrative work, talking to the press, fundraising efforts. He's rehired April Kepner, but instead of doing surgery she's focused on helping him with administrative duties. Which includes calling Meredith "Mrs. Derek Shepherd" which is weird. April is really doubting that she's cut out for surgery, but Derek steps up and gives her a great pep talk about her abilities. Meredith, predictably, gets all twitchy about the idea of having to play Derek's wife occasionally, but does a little manning up of her own and shows up for him. And after she's appalled by the placard announcing the reception honoring "Dr. and Mrs. Shepherd," tells Derek he's got some serious making up to do. Sex style. "Yes, dear."
Plenty going on this week at Seattle Grace. Let's break it down by story line:
Derek and the Chief The board has appointed Derek interim Chief. They've presented Webber with a choice: either quit and walk away, surrendering your medical license, or go to rehab and come back to your job. Richard is so angry at Derek, that's making this emotional choice even harder. Derek's understandably nervous about the new gig and his initial speech to the staff is terrible. His screaming match with Richard that everyone ends up hearing is even worse. Meanwhile, Dr. Bailey's patient wakes up on the table during surgery, and is confronted with Bailey yelling at the anesthesiologist and Meredith trying to soothe her back to sleep. Consequently, the utterly traumatized patient doesn't want Bailey anywhere near her when she wakes up, and when she requires another surgery she insists that Meredith do it. Bailey unloads on anesthesiologist, who came from Mercy West and who she doesn't hesitate to accuse of negligence. However, it turns out that the patient has a condition that allows her to metabolize the anesthetic faster than normal. There's no way he could have known, in other words. Forced to apologize, or close to it, Bailey and the new guy bond. That should be interesting. After successfully mentoring Meredith through the surgery, she counsels Derek to do apologize to the patient, and to the staff. It's what Richard would do. Which he does, insisting that he wants to honor the legacy of Richard and start freshm which means hiring back some of the laid-off staff. The Chief goes to rehab. Arizona and Alex Arizona's working with Alex on teenage boy with intermittent stomach pain. His unsympathetic dad thinks he's just faking it, and they end up doing exploratory surgery to try to figure out what's wrong. Alex stands up for the boy and for the doctors. While the kid is in intensive care, his father lays into Alex about how much this is costing him when he starts bleeding hugely from his chest tube. Teddy gets called into surgery and ultimately they save the day. Alex berates the father until Arizona pulls him away and counsels him to knock it off. But all in all, Alex earned Arizona's respect with passion and commitment to the peds rotation, and it looks like that partnership will continue. Cristina and Owen Intense week on the Owenstina front. A hot one! They're intimate all over the place to the point where Cristina ends up with burns from a session in the boiler room. Teddy decides to use Avery on her service rather than Cristina, except for when she really needs her in the kid's surgery. Then she pages Yang. Uh oh. Crunch time. Owen's urges her not to leave him, and Cristina uncharacteristically ignores her page. Later, Teddy berates her for ignoring her page. Owen tries to help, but it's no use. She accuses him of trying to subdue and control her with sex, and he despairs that she doesn't give any of herself to him, so he can't know her. He didn't know, for example, about her engagement to Burke until it came out in a conversation with Derek and Mark. She insists that Burke isn't relevant to their relationship, and finally breaks down and explains that that relationship took pieces of her away, slowly but surely. She's terrified it'll happen again, just as she's getting herself back, and confesses that when he made her not answer the page, he took a piece of her away. Lexie and Mark He's still upset she slept with Alex after breaking up with him ... even though he was with Addison. She tries to talk to him, he ignores her. In frustration she turned to Callie and explained her side. Callie talked to Mark and he warned her not to take Lexie's side, and so it goes. It is complicated. Lexie got incredibly upset when she ended up having to be on an elevator with Mark. Mark's venting over the situation brought no sympathy from Derek, for obvious reasons. The best part was the shot of Mark in bed with Callie and Arizona, a la George lying with Meredith and Izzie.
Derek has a shouting match with Meredith over whether he should tell the hospital board that the Chief fell off the wagon(禁酒をやめて又飲み出す). He didn't go to the board right away because Meredith pulled out her trump card: Post-It style.
So Derek tries to find a new way to deal with the Chief - first complaining about the lack of sterile(無菌の、殺菌した) supplies, then offering his help, which the Chief rebuffs(断固たる拒否、ひじ鉄砲). Then, Derek points out that he's not operating and only teaching Meredith, the Chief decides it's time to get back into surgery. He plans for Avery and Meredith to join him - and for Meredith to perform a very intense procedure. Bailey is really angry, and unloads(打ち明ける、暴露する) to Derek. That morning she performed an incredibly interesting and difficult procedure involving "hot" chemotherapy in the body cavity, and the Chief wasn't there to see it. Now he's got Meredith scrubbing in on a seven-hour surgery? The Chief's judgment is not clear and rational(理性的な、分別のある), she tells Derek, who eventually mans up for Bailey after talking to Owen about weighing the risks of engaging in battle. What Derek does is bring a bottle of scotch to the Chief, pour him a glass, and imply that he'll drink it, even if he doesn't want to. Wow. Bailey takes over the Chief's surgery because he's in his office sleeping it off, and Derek tells Meredith he'll hire back Izzie (more on that later) if the board makes him Chief, he tells her. Eventually she relents優しい気持ちになる、同情的になる), although she's left wondering if it was the right decision. The question of the night for Teddy and Cristina and Owen is career vs. love to begin with. Much as she wants to take back her previous comments, the more Cristina thinks about it, the more indignant(怒った、立腹した) and unabashed(平然とした、ものおじしない) she gets about prioritizing her career. Meredith warns her to keep this internal debate to herself. But after listening to her opera singer patient with lung cancer explain how badly he needs his work, she tells Teddy that between fulfilling her gift and a guy, she chooses her gift. Drunk Teddy spills the beans to Owen at Joe's, telling him that Cristina offered to give him up. In the end, poor Owen confronts Cristina and tells her that while surgery matters, people matter, and their relationship matters. Cristina's eyes well up as she surrenders to their relationship. Izzie's back, and she seems to think she and Alex will be OK. She's applying for jobs and wants one in Tacoma because it's close by. An hour earlier, Meredith discovered him in the sack(寝床で) with Lexie they agreed to keep their mouths shut. Eventually, Alex confesses that he slept with someone else, and Izzie seems genuinely(誠実に、真に) intent(意向する意志、目的) on making things right between them. She also seems to have gained a little perspective(相対関係、全体的に正しく見る), finally understanding that for her love is more important than career. Alex is working with Cristina and Teddy on the opera singer, and from talking to the guy's suffering partner he realizes how torturous it is to be involved with someone who doesn't respect them. When he finds out that Izzie's scans are clear, he tells her how happy he is for her, but that even though he's no saint he deserves to be with someone who will stay. So she decides to leave again, even after Meredith giving Derek the OK to go to the hospital board means she has a job again. Despite Meredith asking her to stay, Izzie's moving on. Finally, Callie gets chicken pox. Arizona puts her in quarrantine(隔離) and says since she hasn't had the pox or the vaccine, she can't take care of her, and puts Lexie in charge. Then Mark shows up, back from L.A., confessing to Callie that he slept with Addison and helping scratch her itch. Literally. Arizona confesses that she really just didn't want to deal with Callie with pox because it's not sexy. Mark blurts(口走る、うっかりしゃべる) out his Addison liaison(連絡、通信) to Lexie, who's relieved and tells him about Alex. But Mark gets all hurt, leaving Lexie staring after him.
Mark
Dr. Sloan has no idea his life's about to be turned upside down by the arrival of a young blonde who turns out to be his 18-year-old daughter. Her name? Sloane! He has absolutely no idea to how to cope with it or how to talk to her, even when she stays with him and Lexie through the holidays. Everyone thinks the daughter is a totally out-of-the-blue surprise, but Mark confesses to Derek that he knew his girlfriend 18 years ago was pregnant. He gave her some money, skipped town, and assumed that was the end of it. Now the guilt is killing him. Finally Lexie forces him out of his cowardice and he learns that the girl is pregnant, dropped out of school, was kicked out of her mother's house and has nowhere else to go. We'll be interested to see where this goes. Mer and Richard Meredith knows the Chief knows that she knows he was drinking at Joe's. But what's interesting is how he handles it: he offers to become her mentor in the skills lab. His alcoholism was "misdiagnosed(誤診する)" years ago, he tells her - what he really had was situational depression. Astonishingly, she believes him. By Christmas, Meredith and the Chief are practicing skills on cadavers(解剖用の死体), and she's urging him to make up with Derek. He eventually does, but mostly because of the case Derek's working on with Mark and Arizona. More on that later. At Christmas dinner, the Chief's drinking egg nog - which doesn't go unnoticed by Thatcher, an alcoholic himself. She puts Thatcher in his place, but he's made her think. By New Year's, the Chief's explaining his shaking hands by telling Meredith that he recently had his last drink, and it'll stop soon. Then Joe pages her to the bar, where the Chief is pretty drunk, and we get to see Meredith uncomfortably realize she has to do ... something. Miranda Bailey's worried father arrives on her doorstep at Christmas, hoping to find out what's up with her. He's appalled that she has no Christmas tree and that Tuck's away visiting relatives with his father. He's even more appalled that she's fixing some guy's hernia on Christmas rather than being with her family. Bailey invites herself to Christmas dinner at Derek and Meredith's, because if her father doesn't see evidence of some kind of life he'll never leave. At dinner, she has it out with him over her life being happy and Tuck's life being happy too. Later, Bailey's dad gets to see Tuck for himself, and realizes his daughter was right, the kid's doing just fine. He and her mother are just worried about her, he says. They make up. Cristina, Teddy and Owen Cristina is thrilled to be working with a cardio god, who takes out a woman's heart to outfit her with two devices that keep her circulation going. That's right, no heart. The patient, Kelsey, is being attended to by her not-quite boyfriend, who went on four dates with her. Turns out he's an amazing guy. Kelsey needs to hang on until New Year's Eve, Cristina says, when the drunk driving accidents will surely make more organs available. She finally manages to get a heart - and a proposal from her man. Teddy and Owen, meanwhile, have been alternately awkward and smitten and Cristina notices the way Owen's been looking at her. Owen confronts Teddy, admitting he had feelings for him and forcing her to admit she's in love with him. Then he says he's in love with Cristina. Cristina confronts Owen, telling him he shouldn't be with her because he feels like he owes her. He plants a kiss on her and assures her he loves her. Arizona and Derek Der and Arizona treat Nicholas, a little boy with terrible nosebleeds caused by AVM, a cluster of malformed blood vessels(血管) in his brain. They convince his nervous parents that he needs surgery, but when he gets in there Derek finds he can't reach the vessels. They don't have instruments small and nimble(巧妙な、す早い) enough to allow them to go in through his sinuses(曲がり、副鼻腔洞). But, Nicholas' mother points out, the tools need to be developed by someone, so why not them? Arizona and Derek work with Mark to develop the tool, but they go over budget and their funding gets cut off. They offer to put their bonuses toward finishing the research, but there are no bonuses this year. So they end up splitting the costs between them. On New Year's Eve, the tools are done and they get the job done.
In part one of a Grey's Anatomy / Private Practice crossover, Derek's working on Tom Kates, Seattle's star pro quarterback who suffered head and neck trauma after an ugly hit he took on the field.
It turns out he's got a concussion(脳振とう、衝撃) and needs to have his spleen(ひぞう) removed, which will bench him until next season. He lights up when he sees his wife and baby son. Then he has a panic attack when Derek talks about him playing again. He confesses he doesn't want to play any more. He used to be able to fight through his fear, but now that he's a father he realizes what the game can do to him. But he's two years into his pro career - he can't quit now. Derek and Callie take a look at Tom's knees, which are legitimately(正当な) shot, and Derek realizes that they've found a way out for him - a knee replacement surgery that would effectively end his career and would not make it look like he walked away. Alex and Reed (who's messing with Alex and seems to have led him and others to believe she'd trade sex for surgeries) assist, and Callie reminds them that it's not a game, it's the man's career. In the midst of this, Derek sniffs out(見つけ出す、嗅ぎ出す) a problem with the Chief. He's helping Bailey with the follow-up on the gall bladder (たんのう) patient whose surgery the Chief messed up a couple of months ago, and Derek picks up on the fact that a mistake was made. The Chief hasn't been in surgery since. He basically bullies the Chief into taking Tom's spleen surgery, then confronts Bailey with his suspicions when he doesn't show up. Meanwhile, the Chief, in his role as mentor to Meredith, has been watching old films of her mother's surgeries with her. Meredith ultimately confesses to Derek that the Chief's drinking again. Elsewhere, Teddy hands Cristina a solo cardiac(心臓の) surgery - replacing a patient's valve with a mechanical one. Cristina spends all day preparing for it, and Teddy steps aside to let her learn on her own. The patient can't decide what valve she wants, so Cristina brings them both for her to try to get a feel for. She finally decides on the porcine (pig) valve, and Cristina's rocking the house in surgery with Teddy looking on. Then things go incredibly bad. The patient is out of control, Cristina doesn't know what to do, and Teddy won't step in. A worried Owen runs in to the OR to try to get Teddy to help, until Cristina throws him out. Then she figures out what to do, and she's fine. It worked! After the surgery, Owen confronts Teddy, who swears she wouldn't have let the patient die, but correctly says that Cristina needs to be pushed. Owen asks if Teddy didn't step in because of the situation between them. Owen goes to find Cristina, who's abolutely thrilled that she got to learn and fly on her own in the surgery. And he crushes her a little by telling her Teddy's leaving Seattle. Cristina chases after Teddy and offered her anything she wanted to get her to stay - and agreed without hesitation to give up Owen to make it happen. Finally, Mark's daughter, Sloan, is still living with him and Lexie, and he's embraced his role as a father, which is driving Lexie crazy. More importantly, there's also a problem with her baby - a couple of pieces of amniotic(羊膜の) tissue are threatening the tiny boy's limbs(手足、四肢) as they develop. Get me Addison Montgomery, he says! Understandably, younger Sloan knows she's ill-equipped to deal with raising a special-needs baby. But when Addison operates, she discovers an AVM (a tangle of blood vessels) that she's confident she can work around, but Mark shuts down the surgery, saying it's too dangerous. His interference(妨害、干渉) leads directly to two developments: First, he tells Sloan, without asking Lexie first, that he wants her to live with them and they'll help her raise the baby. Second, he takes Sloan to Los Angeles so Addison can operate. Lexie tells Mark their relationship just ended, and goes back to Meredith's house, where she hooks up with Alex, who's there because he had to get out of the trailer. Continued on the ensuing(次の、あとに続く) Private Practice episode "Another Second Chance" ...
Owen has a present for Cristina. That being Teddy Atlman. Teddy is a cardio god. Or goddess. Yang is not Yang if she is easily pleased, so she wants to know things about Teddy and why she hasn't heard of her.
At first, Teddy is just adjusting a bit from spending so much time in Iraq, but Cristina takes that to mean she doesn't know what she's doing at all. Eventually, Cristina ends up liking Teddy a lot because she let her do some highly risky and difficult procedure. She's a really good teacher, too. Don't judge a book by its cover. However, her relationship with Owen is intriguing(非常におもしろい、興味をそそる). She's not an ex, but she has a thing for Owen, she reveals. It's interesting to see where this goes. Elsewhere(よそで、他の場合), Adele sort of accuses Bailey of having an affair with the Chief simply because the latter didn't go home. She's not, but something is up with Richard. In the end, Bailey conceded(認める) that the Chief can indeed be her work-husband. After the Chief decided to take a break from his surgical duties, Bailey takes over for him. But what is wrong with this guy? He botched(だめにする、台無しにする) a surgery and Bailey had to redo it. Later, we find out. Oh yeah, Izzie is back at Seattle Grace. She was living with her mom in Chehalis, and only showed up because her high school teacher and mentor, Dr. Singer, had a problem remembering ... anything. That case was great to watch - they figured out that he had fluid blocking his brain from receiving ... well, something. You gotta love Derek, though, and Izzie telling the Chief to do the surgery or else. The first time Alex saw her, it was heartbreaking, his expression saying, "What the hell, Izzie," a combination of sad and mad. They weren't talking at first, and when they finally did, Izzie started blaming Karev for getting her fired, which is did not sit well with him. Alex says she didn't give him the benefit of the doubt, made a conclusion, and just went away. He can't forgive her either, he says. The Chief, finally, concedes that he's exhausted, hands over all his surgeries to Bailey, after botching an otherwise routine surgery. There's a Chief montage while he's drinking, and he really does appear under the influence. Poor guy.
Tonight's Grey's Anatomy was all about Derek, and finding your peace.
However you can do it, that's how you do it. Derek narrates the episode and opens by talking about what drew him to surgery: the quiet, the shutting out of everything else in the world. He's studying some scans when Isaac, a lab tech, come in and shows him an amazing MRI of a giant, very dangerous tumor on his spine(脊柱、背骨). Isaac's the patient, and he talks Derek into taking on his surgery. It's regarded as impossible but McDreamy thinks he can do it. One by one, Cristina, Mark, Callie, Lexie, Hunt, and Arizona all come in and offer support while Derek's trying to figure out whether to take the case. Even Bailey's blown away, calling the tumor dangerous, complicated, smart and beautiful - the reason she got into medicine. But the Chief won't go near it - it's just too dangerous, and too expensive. After all, they might need to cut the spinal(背骨の、脊髄の) cord to get it all out. Even after Derek tells him that the patient is an employee, the Chief says the hospital's not a charity, and they don't have the pro bono budget to cover higher surgeries for every employee. They butt heads. In the end, Derek defies the chief and his new computer generated schedule and books Isaac for surgery. He's gone rogue(わんぱく、ごろつき). First, a contest among the residents will determine see who's got the skills to handle microsurgery, and Jackson Avery gets to scrub in after Cristina blows it. So does Lexie, who'll keep an eye on Derek. Avery brags about how he never has to take breaks and that Lexie is just a bitch. So Lexie decides to wear a diaper so she can stay in surgery for longer than Jackson. Cristina finds out and is impressed. Before he goes under, Isaac tells Derek that he needs to be inspired in this surgery - and if need be, he should cut the spinal cord. He says he's survived war and tragedy, and he can do without his legs if needed. It doesn't go well. Derek gets in there and finds that the tumor is much more involved than it looked on the scan. He stands there for 10 hours trying to come up with a plan to attack the thing, before the Chief comes in and boots him out. He later explains to Isaac that it was too risky, and since he still has use of his legs he couldn't bear to cut the cord. He'll do better tomorrow, Isaac tells him. Derek is dumbfounded(ものも言えないほどぴっくりさせる). Derek goes home and talks it through with Meredith and comes up with a new strategy. He's gone all zen, an knows he needs to just go in and cut. The next day, Derek cajoles(おだてて) Richard into allowing him to the surgery, but just to cut the cord, which should only take an hour. Of course, he has absolutely no intention of doing that. He's going all in, and will be there 26 hours if needed. Of course, that is physically demanding, and a tense, dehydrated(脱水状態になる) Derek throws up in the middle of it. The real trick is when he's down to the last set of blood vessels that connects the tumor to the spine, and he has to pick the one to cut. The wrong decision could kill or paralyze Isaac. In the end, he makes the right call. Derek not only saves Isaac, but also doesn't paralyze him. When he wakes, Isaac's convinced that the surgery didn't go well, because he can move his feet. But when he learns what really happened, it's with such relief and joy. Just the same, Derek runs into the chief, who all of the attendings have blocked from his OR during Isaac's surgery. We can't keep fighting, Derek tells him. Let's try to put this behind us and move on. And then the Chief fires him. Right. Derek adopts a little bit of Isaac's Zen by telling the chief to sleep on it, and they'll talk tomorrow. He walks away. Awesome.
Kids in distress(激痛、苦痛). That's what it's all about tonight.
The first child was a preemie(早産児、未熟児) baby, born to Laura, a mother suffering from major head trauma after a car accident. After sustaining injuries and only 30 weeks pregnant, the baby doesn't have much hope for survival. Alex is despondent(落胆した、気落ちした) after being served with an enormous medical bill for his MIA wife, who still isn't coming in for her IL-2 treatments. He's resigned to the fact that the baby is going to die, but not so resigned that he doesn't make sure she gets held before she dies. "You're not alone," he whispers to the baby. When the baby's condition suddenly improves, Bailey says that skin-to-skin contact could save her, and demands Alex remove his shirt. When the baby makes it against all odds, Bailey muses that Karev would be good in pediatrics(小児科医). Much like Addison thought years ago! The second patient is a 15-year-old girl who fell off her roof while eating mushrooms in the middle of the night and believing she could fly. When her parents start to get outraged, she reminds them that she gets straight As, is on the honor roll, runs student council and the school paper, and tutors kids with reading problems. Her attitude inspires Christina, Callie and Owen to reminisce(楽しく思い出す、思い出を語る) about their own childhoods while do perform surgery. Jackson starts to chime in, but they don't care. Of course, something goes wrong during the surgery. Perhaps inspired by Derek's rogue(わんぱく、ごろつき) turn last week, Cristina steps in to do an invasive cardio(心臓) procedure herself, with Owen and Callie shouting their objections. After all, she's unqualified. Jackson is the only one who backs her up. Owen tears her a new one. Jackson, however, thought Christina's intrepidity(恐れを知らぬ、大胆不敵) was hot - similar to the way Burke used to. Jackson drunkenly kisses her later, but she pushes him back. Now for the big story. "Dr." Wallace Anderson, a child suffering from short gut syndrome, often joins Arizona on rounds to work on his math and science skills after seven months in the hospital. Early in the episode, Arizona promised Wallace that they'd celebrate their shared birthday together. Wallace's mom and dad ask for a meeting with the Chief and Arizona, presenting the hospital with a generous $25 million donation. They want some of that to researching their son's condition. But it's too late, as Arizona doesn't think that Wallace will survive another surgery, and if he does, surgery will only buy him two painful months. Pressured by the Chief, and the weight of all that research money, Arizona reluctantly agrees to do the surgery. Wallace is a smart kid, though. He's been in the hospital a long time; he knows there's only two ways out of there, and he doesn't see a light at the end of his tunnel. His first surgery goes alright, but later, complications arise and he dies while Arizona tries to save him. Afterward, Arizona is curt(そっけない、ぶっきらぼうな) and clearly furious with the obvious dollar signs in the Chief's eyes. Arizona has always had trouble standing up to authority. No tears tonight, until she gets home to the ill-timed surprise birthday party Callie threw for her. Luckily, Arizona's words got through to the Chief and he invited her back into the room to speak to the Andersons, despite Jennings' protests. Parents want to know that the doctors care. They want human compassion(思いやり、同情). And with Arizona they will get it. With that $25 million, there's little doubt she can really make magic come true.
Tonight's Grey's Anatomy is all about invasion, the influx(流れ込み、殺到) from Mercy West, and the new docs are definitely not out to take prisoners.
The merger gets off to a rocky start when cocky(生意気な、高飛車な) young Reed (Nora Zehetner) refuses to take her stuff out of George's old locker, almost causing a throwdown between her and Izzie. Due to the sheer volume of cases in the hospital, the Seattle Grace and Mercy West doctors are paired up and assigned "zones" - an idea from one of the newbies - to handle the mob(大群、集団) scene. In said zones, one of our favorites frequently feuds (不和、確執) with an invader. The cases are almost secondary this week, used as props to showcase how the new Mercy West gang are one-upping the Seattle Grace crew at every opportunity. Lexie and Mercy West's April (Sarah Drew) work together on the case of a burglar injured during the act, leaving him with a broken back. When Lexie is one-upped by the conniving(見てみぬふりをする、大目に見る) April on the suggested course of treatment, her patient helps her out by stealing April's notebook. In this notebook, Lexie discovers not case notes but self-pep talk notes April uses to bolster(支える、元気付ける) her flagging(疲れきった、沈滞気味の) self esteem. Lexie cruelly uses the knowledge to tear April down, but immediately feels bad about her actions. She ends up apologizing to April, even if she admits she still dislikes her. But she went over the line and she knows it. Cristina and newcomer Jackson are working together to save a man stabbed by his friend for having sex with the friend's 19-year-old daughter. Although Cristina technically saves the patient's life by fixing the stab wound, Jackson gets the credit for doing some heroic tackling when the patient is threatened again by his hammer-wielding friend. Cristina ends up in a crying fit in Meredith's hospital room (Mer is exempt from the drama, probably to her benefit) over the downward spiral of her career. She felt alive when she was working with Burke and holding hearts in her hands every day. Now she feels none of that, she just feels lost. Alex and Mercy West partner Reed spend the hour fighting over a man with both an adrenal (腎臓の近くにある、腎臓が作り出した) mass and carotid(頚動脈) stenosis(狭窄(きょうさく)症.). Alex and Reed are extremely antagonistic(対立する、敵対する) from the start, going so far as to argue about care in front of the patient and his daughter (Kathleen Wilhoite). In turn, the daughter rightfully yells at them and snaps them out of it... for about 30 seconds until they start up again. Izzie and Mercy West's Charles (Robert Baker) get paired up on Sarah, a young woman in desperate need of a kidney transplant and down to her last access point for dialysis(腎臓透析). They seem to be getting along swimmingly until Izzie overhears him bragging to his Mercy West friends about her being his "surgical bitch." In the midst of their troubles, Izzie almost kills patient Sarah by ordering a bad procedure and causing her to code. Bailey manages to save the patient, but because of her troubles she will lose her chance at the transplant kidney she's been waiting years for. Bailey is not done fighting for her, though - she brings her to L.A. and Private Practice later in the hour! Woo hoo! But back to Seattle Grace. Chief has to get down the the business of firing people, and HR insists he use a specific speech because the last person he fired (the pregnant intern) is suing for wrongful termination. Who's getting the ax? Izzie. She can't believe she was allowed to come back after the LVAD wire incident, but Richard says this is a different era. She takes it extremely hard, to the point where she skips town and leaves Alex via a note taped to his locker. Alex cries to Meredith and Cristina that she's left him. No other explanation offered or needed. Meanwhile, one of the few doctors with job security (after last week's promotion to attending) has her own drama to deal with. Callie's dad shows up wondering why they don't talk anymore. Turns out he's only there to "pray away the gay" from Callie, complete with his priest in tow for support. Callie is disgusted(むかついた、胸が悪くなった), but Arizona urges her to cut him some slack since her news was so shocking. They sit to talk, but her father tries to use God to show Callie why her lifestyle is wrong. Fortunately, Arizona talks to Callie's father and makes him see that Callie is still the same person, the person he raised. This makes him see the light, and he makes amends with Callie in the end.
Seattle Grace is hit with mass casualties from a hotel fire - several burn victims, a guy with a fire ax sticking out of his chest and a firefighter who fell from a ladder and sustained multiple injuries.
But the central case is a woman named Kathy Becker, a young mom with a five-year-old son who, despite some pretty serious burns on her leg and less serious burns on her chest, seems to be on her way to recovery. Seems being the operative word. The problem is that there's no one doctor looking after her, and through the course of the night she's passed from pillar to post(あちらこちらへ、転々と) with no one overseeing her care. This leads to an interesting new way of storytelling. April and Reed, two of the Mercy West residents, conduct the initial exam of mother and son, and everything seems all right. Then Mark and Lexie take over care of the second-degree burns on her leg. Then in comes a 16-year-old burn victim who they have to attend to, though Lexie really wrestles with her emotions watching this kid suffer. Then Reed gets pulled away to help Callie with the firefighter, who seems to be in pretty bad shape. April gets distracted by the insane sight of a patient coming in with a fire ax sticking out of his chest. That situation is made worse when Charles, who gave blood that day, passes out and dislodges(除去する、押しのける) the ax, sending a spray of blood all over everything. Cristina orders some morphine to help Mrs. Becker, who's been complaining of pain. She ends up suffering from a collapsed lung, which Lexie tries to fix with a chest tube. Which she nearly screws up because she's distracted, and Avery helps her out by pounding Mrs. Becker's chest and relieving the pressure. The patient is stable, and for a minute we're distracted by Arizona yelling at Lexie to pull it together and Alex frantically trying to reach Izzie, who's been gone for a week, while having to stitch up the forehead cut of Charles. Mrs. Becker's having awful trouble breathing, and Alex has to perform an emergency cricothyrotomy to be able to open her airway. Then she starts to slide. Her carbon(炭素) monoxide(一酸化物) levels and labs are all over the place before she begins bleeding out. It's over, even though at this point pretty much every doctor is working on her - Cristina, Alex, Charles, Avery, Reed, and April. Then it hits Reed that in her initial examination of Mrs. Becker, April was distracted and skipped checking her airway. Had she done so, she would have found soot(すす) and would have intubated(喉頭などに送管する) the patient right away. One simple mistake led to a dramatic, chaotic turn of events and a horrible end. April gets fired. All of the residents from both hospitals were running around competitive and terrified, most of her Mercy West colleagues aren't exactly sympathetic. Cristina pulls "that's one of us in there" moment and admonishes(たしなめる、警告する) everyone, saying that it could have been any of them. In the end, though, Derek puts the blame for the mistake on whom it belongs: the Chief. Derek says he found the trauma room in chaos, with too many doctors who don't know each other and don't trust each other.
